I thought the fights yesterday were a bit of a letdown...Poiret is damn good even after losing all that weight.
Benson didn't look like ha wanted to stand up and trade. The Mir fight was good when old mate went spastic..

anyone else interested in mayweather vs alvarez? rooting for canelo big time but his maturity will probably not be there at 23. i would have preferred to see him fight a couple more top fights before mayweather. maybe marquez, nice fast counter puncher before moving onto arguably one of the best counter boxers ever... shame he is a ****wit

Couldn't be arsed as mayweather is a douche. I do like alvarez though, it would be an awesome upset though.

agreed, he is a mega douche... which is a shame because he is one of the GOAT. his arrogance is unparalleled, well except for maybe roger or floyd snr

as i expected, mayweather was too classy for canelo, good to see that canelo kept his head though. canelo will be a much better fighter for the experience.

on another note, UFN 33 comes to brisbane dec 7th with hunt vs bigfoot, shogun vs james te huna, soa "no conditioning" palelei vs pat barry and ultimate fighters dylan andrews vs clint hester named so far. pretty sure i will attend, some decent fights named so far..

i can see shogun getting rag dolled, palelei gassing and getting tko'd, andrews hearting out hester. hunt vs bigfoot is interesting, surely bigfoot isnt dumb enough to trade with hunt and if it goes to the ground should make short work of hunt. standing... night night bigfoot

who are some other locals you would like to see? i doubt any of the smashes guys would get a run

I've talked to JTH quite a bit at oztag, damn nice bloke. A girl my wife teaches dancing to, her dad is his kick boxing coach. Would love to see him win but I think Shogun will have to much for him unfortunately.
I watched the Mayweather fight & while I can't stand the p#%*k, geez he can box. Really thought Canelo would tag him atleast once & make the fight more interesting.

I avoided the results today and watched the fight while texting my mates my judging of the rounds.

I had it 48-47, GSP and predicted a split decision win for him.

Who won the fight? Johny, easily.

Who won the fight with a 10 point must system? Different story.

Hendricks dominated two rounds. GSP squeaked by in two (agreed debatable) and won one convincingly.

This fight highlights the problems with this scoring system.

It was the same with Fitch/Penn. in he grand scheme of things, Penn got smoked. Overall result, draw.

I can't believe the Lawler / Rory fight was split. I thought that was pretty clear 29-28 Lawler

I look forward to seeing this fight to make up my own mind. Seems that common consensus in comments sections on different sights is that GSP was very lucky to get the win or that it could have gone either way.

Bit of a question of whether Hendricks tapped early on. Anyone see it?

I thought he tapped when I saw it.

In looking at the slow mo, it doesn't look as bad.

Strange hand motion though with a very deep choke.

Interesting. A lot of people think that GSP didn't think he had it in deep enough and let go as Hendricks tapped. Who knows.

One thing is for sure, is anyone as much fun to watch as Johnny?

I watched the fight this morning, can't believe they gave it to GSP? I don't think Johnny tapped at all, was nowhere near deep enough. There's been a few shitty decisions in the UFC this year, how the judges gave GSP the first round is beyond me. Whilst I appreciate GSP had some takedowns & landed a few minor shots, Johnny dominated the exchanges & stopped some takedowns. Yes GSP's face marks easily but JH didn't have a mark on him. Stopping the fight in a clinch when GSP was in trouble to put Hendricks mouthpiece in was a joke too, gave GSP a chance to recover when he shouldn't have.

Sounds like it'd be a helluva rematch.

I thought Hendricks dominated the first. Once I saw the striking stats, it changed my mind. Virtually a dead heat. The sub probably put him over the line.

I hate that they count a love tap the same as a significant strike. Did you guys watch the post fight conference? Hendricks is sitting there looking fresh as & GSP is an absolute mess. Dana wasn't happy either

There are both strikes and significant strikes. Hendricks won strikes, GSP significant strikes.

GSP always bruises and scrapes easily. It was the same in his last fight as well. Hendricks did look very fresh.

Depending on the GSP semi retirement thing I could see Lawler vs Hendricks happening in the near future. Would like to see Nick Diaz vs McDonald also, see how good McDonald can counter Nick's relentless pace and accuracy...

dana is not impressed with GSP's time off, quite disgusted really heh.

Would love to see Diaz / Rory, although I think Rory would just take him down and beat on him like Georges for 3 rounds.

Lawler / Hendricks is a dream match. Two lefty bangers. Someone is getting ko'd in that one.

GSP is a pure company man. I think Dana was more pissed at the decision that anything. The rematch might just take a little longer than Dana wants. Silva did the same thing.

At the end of the day, GSP will do what he wants to do.
