Now that my (new) handicap history is available on Golflink, I am proud to say that I appear to be off the anchor. In one way this is a pity, as I was one round away from claiming a record by being anchored for 20 straight rounds. I cannot claim that record now.
However, this appears to be because history has been rewritten, and rounds that previously didn't count are now counters due to the slope factor. A case in point is our Ozgolf day at Port Kembla. My 12 over score was being counted as a 13, now it is a 10.6.
I think I now have a one shot leeway before I become "capped" again, although this new system is so confusing I'm not too sure what is going on.
Other players currently experiencing anchor hell may also find themselves released from the spell.
BTW, it seems Golflink is now calling it capped rather than anchored, so we may have to change the title of this thread.

I think it will always be 'anchored' to some

It was changed to Cap by GA in July to avoid confusion with the Putter Anchoring ban.
We wouldn't want sms getting those mixed up

Same as you Jim. Was anchored, new system fixed that by bumping me out to B grade.
How is everyone tracking with the new system?
It's got me fooked!
After Vic champs, portsea round I was on 7.4
Played home track off 7.4 Friday week ago. Played crap. 30points.
Cap stayed on 7.4.
Checked cap on weekend as playing down south this week and was booking in, cap was 7.4.
Checked it again today and it's gone to 7.5
My portsea round has been changed.
Haven't played.

The only thing that really matters is that none of us are anchored any longer. Mind you, it will be a real badge of honour for the first person to have gained five shots since January 23.
As for me, I've played three good games since the new system came in, so I probably would have got off the anchor under the old system.
There is no doubt in my mind that the best way to reduce handicap is to play a course with a high slope. I played Byron Bay on Sunday, which has a slope of 138. This gained me an extra stroke, and in my opinion Byron is not a particularly difficult course. On the other hand, to gain strokes it might be a simple matter of playing courses with a low slope rating. The way I play golf, the alleged difficulty of the course doesn't make much difference to my score. If I hit the ball well and putt well, I score well anywhere, and if I don't, the easiest course in the world won't help my score.

If I don't shoot any decent scores in the next 4 rounds, there is a good chance I'll be anchored again

Ok, so averaging about 1.5 games a week. Not as much as I first thought. By crikey, you must have some form dips and swings though.
I'd be burned out from the game playing that much.
