Another 0.6 out today to 7.0. Are 20 rounds too many for a good indicator of form? Or would lessening the amount cause too much fluctuation? If it was best four of the last 10, I would be off 10.6. Another flag to drop off after the next round, but it probably won't go out more than 0.1, not that I really care.

Fair chance the majority of people with “active” handicaps haven’t gone 12+ months without handicap rounds. While I prefer the old system, this one works ok as far as I am concerned.

To be fair AndyP, you don't play enough golf for a system to cater for you. As you mention, you don't really care, would be happy to hear a solution but as SH said, I'm happy enough with how it works.

Obviously, I'm an exception, but there would be plenty of once or twice a month players around. 20 rounds is a whole year, which isn't a great indicator.

You’re an exception because it’s been so long between rounds. Regardless of how often you play, if the interval is consistent I suspect the handicap over 20 rounds evens itself out.

Got .6 back on the weekend...next 5 rounds are flagged.

Lowest ever of 1.9 was 5 rounds ago. Currently 2.7.

Going to get messy quickly unless the form turns around in a hurry!

Never been on a anchor but liking this new system. Two more rounds and will be nestled down with my favourite handicap of 12.

I was looking sketchy for a while, but one flag in the next 10 should see me heading in the right direction coming into tournament season.

Another 0.1 added to move to 7.1. That is seven consecutive non-flagged rounds now. I could get it to nine consecutive, if I don't beat a played to 10.5 in the next two rounds. My last round was played to 10.6, so I'm getting closer.

A little bit of stress today, when I scored one shot better than last time, which could have become a flag. Fortunately, the DSR was one less than last time also, so the flag was avoided. That missed one footer on the last really paid off.

    That's eight non-flags in a row now.

I am not anchored, nor in any danger any more after 32 points last weekend saw me lose .4, then 34 yesterday saw me lose another .3 to get down to a daily of 8 for Club Champs.

But my good mate Monsta has just hit a daily of 17 for Champs!!!!

    Oh. My.

    Nine non-flags in a row.

With a 2.1 dropping off after my next round, we'll see one of those rounds turn into a flag, but potentially a whole shot added to the handicap.

A guy I played with on the weekend, claimed that handicaps are now being adjusted one shot per year for those who have absent from the game. I was dubious. Has anyone heard this?

I stuffed up with the non-flags and won a comp in the next round (at Portland). Handicap still went out though.

I'm back on the non-flag train again now after today, but the anchor has moved on me since they changed the handicapping calculations again.

Here's my handicap progression over the last eight rounds.
    6.1
    6.4
    7.0
    7.1
    7.1
    7.7
    8.4 (after a comp win)
    9.0

Anchor is at 13.4. Still a long way to go, and with this soft cap zone thing, it is going to take some seriously shit golf to get out to the anchor. The signs are there though.

Went out a full 1.0 after I was given my playing partners score and he was given mine while playing as visitors at another club
Finally out to double digits GA and 1/2 way to anchor

Probably a good idea for you to hit anchor right now, sort out your misses in your swing and then come back firing again.

I’m hoping by this time next year we can both share a mid single figure handicap

Tbh I’m not really hitting it much worse than when I was on mid singles. I’m just not making a ton of up and downs anymore due to lack of playing touch. My game and hcp at the time was mostly short game. I’d rarely hit more than 30% of GIR.
In all honesty I don’t want to get back to mid singles again. Golfs more enjoyable now I don’t feel a need to play to that standard and know a score is ruined by a few poor holes.

Is it only the hard anchor, or do they also take away your sharp pencils at the soft anchor?

Gained another 0.2 on the weekend.
Only 2 single digit flags left now but no flags coming off for next 3 rounds.
Just have to make sure I play worse than a played to 13.2

Road to anchor hit a speed bump over the weekend.
After gaining 2.0 in the last 4 rounds I lost 0.2 with a -1 in a Par comp over the weekend.
