Must have been getting bored at work so had a look at my G.A.
Getting some double digit numbers in the top 8 now and the next 2 are flags to be replaced by more double digits so out I go .
Only issue is my anchor number just reset not long ago so it will be out of reach again due to lack of playing.

With some form over the last three days, I have dropped 1.1 off so not on anchor any more.

Well that was quick! I finished 2017 on a GA of 10.9, with a Cap Point Anchor score base of 9.4. One month later and my GA has blown out to 13.9, and I am staring my 14.4 anchor in the face!

Probably would take longer if you didn't play 20 times a week. hahahaha

For the first 9 holes I need more shots, after that my 2017 handicap is more than enough. Yesterday was very typical of my 2018 rounds; 10 points on the front, 22 on the back, and my ball striking was still very average in that score.

Sounds like you need to spend 45min warming up to get the front 9’s off to a hotter start

You can never warm up enough as you get older, unfortunately. But that isn't really my main issue. It is a lack of confidence at times on the direction of my shots, and the fact that I seem to get get bent over on a miss nearly every time.

The 3rd on Wednesday was a classic example of where the wheels fall off regularly for me. Shortish par 5 (460 ish). Two good shots had me well in range with a wedge. But this small green is a nightmare since they re-turfed it a year ago. It is literally hard a rock, and a shot in landing just a few metres on can end up over the back, quite easily. Land it just short of that and it stops dead, which at least gives you a long chip putt up the green! But the front is guarded by 2 deep bunkers and the front fairway tongue is very narrow between them. I missed flying the right bunker by a foot and ended up fully plugged in the face. An almost impossible shot to get out, but I all but did, except they have a deep over hanging lip that catches your ball. So I ended up back in a hole. Then splash it out with a good shot that doesn't stop and I end up over the back anyway. No shots on the hole, so I have to sink a wedge shot out of Kike off a 30 degree uphill lie to score a point. I go on to barely scramble another point on the next hole, after pulling my tee shot trying to hit a fade, and ended up dead behind a tree. And so the beat goes on....

Two months on and I am back in A Grade and 3 shots under my then Anchor. Next stop single figures again, hopefully.

PS. I did hit my Anchor in the interim, and was stuck there for a month.

Well I'm getting close. Anchor is 6.1.

    Up to 4.1

Have 4 more flags dropping off, so if no flagged rounds I'll anchor in 3 at a guess.

2 shots north in the last month.

No idea where my game has gone, but it doesn't look like coming back any time soon

Thats a fair fall Matt. Good luck finding form.

Could be worse. Kev won the medal on the weekend and STILL stayed on his anchor!

OK. My run from 5.9 in January to 9.1 today has been dire, but one flag in the next 4 should hopefully arrest this decline... hopefully.

Full head of steam up , 3 shots back , will be on my 10.4 anchor in 6 games unless there is a drastic form reversal , worst part is I have to wait until March next year to get any further back .
