18/ Ferrins all three golf days please
Looking at arriving via Qantas at 7.30am on Friday and departing 9pm Sunday. Anyone playing Friday who I could hook up with for a lift? Would need to jag a ride back on Sunday too please.

I might book in another two rooms to be sure. Looks like we'll get the numbers.
Will see if I can get another group or two for Friday golf just in case.
The 24 players per day of the champs are firm. If we get the numbers this year we can look at making it bigger and better next year with enough time to plan and get first dibs on bookings.

Agree Titty, it should be ok in October... although I was once there in mid December and it felt like it could snow!
As mentioned in the other thread my mates and I do a weekend middle of winter in the highlands every year, temps are usually in the range 0-10... just adds to the experience!

Quick update. Have got the trophies sorted for the things mentioned below. Will post a pic in a week or two when they arrive.
Trophy for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place. These are very nice.
4 x NTP
2 x LD
1 x Putting (putting comp held Saturday morning)
1 x NAGA
20 x participation medals with ribbon for the inaugural event. TBC.
Will also be an additional prize for first three placegetters. I have to speak with someone next week re the details. When confirmed I'll inform the thread.
Rest of the prize pool will be prizes for the winner, who will probably be very spoilt.
Will be a $30 prize pool donation per player. Account to be set up in due course for deposit.

Nice one Matty... just two questions, and not wanting to dis on your organising, just curious...
1. Will these be perpetual trophies, i.e. just bring them back next year and add a name to it?? Or are they for the winners to keep? From personal experience I've found the perpetual trophy seems to work better a) as who really wants to collect a bunch of trophy's to keep forever?... but moreso, b) when bringing it back it creates a bit of talk and a History of the event, who has won it previously etc, etc. and c) it means we don't have to front up for trophy money each year and/or any money can go to prizes??
2. is there no scratch trophy? Not that it will worry me but a few of you guys are guns and would no doubt flourish with a scrach prize. Could it not be 1st, 2nd and Scratch instead of 1,2,3? No one remembers 3rd!
Finally, just another suggestion re: prize pool, previous social events I have been at every body just donated a prize to the table, may be a bottle of wine, sleeve of pro v's, box of balls, towel, cap, anything really you have laying around. Every one donates and then every one gets a pick of the table, winner first pick etc... kind of makes everyone feel special!
Anyway, just some random thoughts. Really I'm happy to run with whatever you decide as you are the organiser, just offering up some suggestions.
All great suggestions. Thought about the perpetual trophy too but was suss on whether the winner (who can be a newbie and then dissapear forever) would always hand it back or care enough to make sure it got back. I like the idea and will look at getting one. Might forgo the prize for 3rd and redirect the funds to a perpetual trophy.
The scratch trophy sounds good too. Might just add a scratch trohpy because even though no one remembers 3rd, 3rd place will. Am just trying to include more in the prizes.
The prize pool is good too. Never heard of that. What do you reckon?, everyone bring something up to the value of $20 or so. That would cover sleeves of balls, towels, bags of tees, whatever.
You're an ideas man Waz.

Minimum post count or a known member by other members should take care of this. "Established member of the community" covers it. It's something that's in place for the Champs up here.

yep agree with the above. Newbies can win the main prize but the perpetual trophy shoud go to the best "established" winner. have done this in the past also.

haha. I've run a couple of big social type events, plus co-ordinate about 14 mates that get together a handful of times a year including trips away, etc, plus have attended another golf forum meet the past 6 years... so just going on what I've witnessed seemed to work best.
