    Default Golf injuries

About 8 months ago I fractured my wrist and tore the ligaments on my first tee shot.

I had my surgery yesterday, with 2 parts of my hand/ wrist having bone removed where fractures turned into clean breaks that would not heal.

I am guessing I will need 2-3 months to recover, which is not a huge this as I haven't been able to play for 8 months as it is.

I was thinking, what other injuries have ozgolfers sustained golfing?

I also tend to aggregate my left ACL as I slide into impact.....

After playing this game for 40 years I have realised that we are not designed to play golf, not as we would like to play golf that is. Golfers are accidents waiting to happen.

Do you think injuries have more to do with bad technique?

Good technique requires the mobility, flexibility, stability and strength of an Adam Scott. It also requires the knowledge to know and recognise what good technique is and what it feels like.

My Physio said golf is terrible for the body, as it is so one sided in how it uses the muscles.

True Raz, but you didn't really answer the question.

I only query this as I think I've developed some bad golfers/tennis elbow in the right elbow. Today I found that when I kept the elbows in and concentrated on body turn with upper arms connected, all pain dissapeared. When I put a bad swing on and threw the club a bit it stung badly. Had a great ball striking day with a shortened swing and staying connected.

    Matty
Your grip is probably too tight. Try gripping with a light grip and go a degree again lighter. The right hand should be lighter than the left. To treat your forearm elbow, buy a spikey ball ( mine is green) and massage the forearms, wrist and hands using downwards pressure on the ball on a table. Also if your chest is bracing during the swing then the smaller muscles will be doing more than transmitting the power from the larger stronger muscles attached to the pelvis. For effective movement to occur the transfer of power has to occur in as near as possible to a straight line. If the chest braces (one example) some angle has formed in the chain which over time will cause damage to ligaments and joints.

Tourfit claimed injury when he was trying to pull a stubborn grip off and he ended up punching himself in the nuts when his hands slipped.
