I played at Kooindah Waters a few weeks back with someone using the same 'strategy'.

He regularly wins our social club Long Drive (C grade), but put a pond within 50m of the tee and he will find it.

New green for the par 4 18th has been transplanted a few weeks ago from the 8th and is growing and settling in nicely. Fairway grassing done on the par 4 18th and new concrete paths have been put in to these new teeing grounds. Irrigation system has been extended into the rough so that they can water the entire playing surface so that they can mow the course in a way that will provide better definition of the fairways on the course.

Greens are pretty ordinary and hopefully the green staff can actually do something with them soon. This is the one thing that is letting the entire course down at the moment. Gone from having fantastic greens a couple of years ago to having greens that are just very average.

The driving range will never be members only it will always be a public driving range.

7 Day membership is around $1340 or $1380. Currently there is a pay for 12 months get 16 months.
Thanks for the update mate. Lynwood membership is awesome value - off the top of my head the only others that compare in value in Western Sydney are Liverpool (particularly if you're under 35yo) and Cabramatta.

Nemo is right. I think most of the guys on here left Lynwood. I think a couple went to Riverside Oaks as I understand it. Pretty hard to pass on that deal if you live nearby. More expensive than Lynwood but much better value with the driving range and carts included for comp and social golf.

Cheers gents. Riverside is definitely a good 15 mins further but I've played there, quite good and my sister in law got married there so decent facilities. I think around $2k for a 7 day? I'll call them a bit later to clarify.

Yep. $2350 I think for 7 day full membership incl range balls, carts for comp and social golf and 2 golf courses. Definitely worth it if you live close enough.

If I lived up there I'd be in there like swimwear at Riverside Oaks. Alas, even from southwest Sydney it took me well over an hour to get there - and that's at sparrows in the morning with no traffic. Great value there with the two pretty solid courses and the range balls. And the whole place has that really lush country club vibe as well.

How's the course lately? It's been a while since I've played (a year ago)

We played it about a month ago, dams are low but alot of places are the same. Seemed in good nick for the weather we have been having. I am undecided to re join Stonecutters later this year or go to Lynwood but seeing the Riverside Oaks deal that could be an option as well.

We played there in early January, and the original course was mint.

Fairways were lush and well manicured, and greens were the best i have seen them in recent years.

I'm officially Lynwood now gents. Signed up yesterday arvo.
Had a sneaky 9; the recent rain did wonders as the course dried up quick but looked sensational.
Was tough deciding RO vs Lyn, but right now building a very expensive house so you catch my drift.
Met the local pro Jeremy, seems younger than me but a good bloke.

Played Lynwood the other day. The first time in a long time. First time since the changes. Greens had been cored only 10 days before I believe and they were very good considering. The golf course as a whole was very enjoyable and me and Vader77 both played pretty well.

Just one major gripe. The designer of the new holes has totally f$&ked up the 18th. Changing it from a great finishing long par 4 into a par 5 in principle would be fine except the tree that was really on the LHS of the fairway before is now RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR LINE OF PLAY TO THE GREEN. HOW F$&KIN STUPID IS THAT!

I hit maybe my best drive of the day and split the fairway. I had 230m odd into the green which is reachable for me and all I could see was this big f$&kin tree right in the middle of my line to the green. I have no issue with a tree being in the way when you're out of position but I was smack bang in the middle of the fairway. If you want to have a crack at the green, you have to go around the tree. I would have actually been better off in the right or left rough than where I was and I think that's a stupid design. Whoever designed that hole has f$&kin rocks in their head.

Had a great day none the less and will go back to play there soon but will hope they've cut that bloody tree down in the meantime

    Rant over and out.

Hey dude, That long par 4 used to be a superb finishing hole at Lynwood; as a par 5, it's by far a weaker hole, tree in fairway or no tree in fairway.I quite like Lynwood, but am not a fan of the changes they've made to the layout. Sounds like that's the consensus too, based on what I've heard...

I think it was the old par 5 9th hole that was a cracker where you had the choice of laying up or going for the green with the creek in front. It is a shame they changed that hole as it was a cracker.

I'm enjoying Lynwood so far. Members are good, course looking good, nothing to complain about.
