    Article in local newspaper
    https://outline.com/CCEStk

Councillor W.O-J was on the radio 91.7Fm Drive with Matt Webber yesterday . The key comments he made about new operator that haven't been mentioned elsewhere yet are: they are a family with 2 decades of experience operating 3 golf courses in SEQ not the gold coast, and have built golf courses before.

    I am thinking down river.

Just going from the Councillor’s Facebook page, but there seems to be plenty of support for the course, so hopefully plenty will get behind it and it will be a success this time. Sounds very promising with experienced operators & a long term proposal.
markTHEblake did you join anywhere else in the meantime or were you waiting for this?

I think Blakey leaving was one of the conditions the new operator put in the contract.

They may not be owned by the same person anymore. I looked at the Brisbane River Golf Course (Karana) golf course website yesterday, and it is aligned with Kooralbyn now, as membership of one gets you membership at the other.

It certainly looks like the same person edits both websites

I can't see something similar on the Kooralbyn or Sandy Gallop site, 3pp???

I did find this on the Kooralbyn site though.
Kooralbyn Valley Golf Club has reciprocal agreements with Brisbane River Golf Course and Surfers Paradise Golf Club.
So that's three courses owned by the one group.

Ah yes I forgot the Lawton bloke sold Karana. Chinese guy owns Kooralbyn and Karana. I still think the sandy gallop bloke is the new Helensvale leasee.

Yeah, I saw that. I don't know what it looked like before, but the Kooralbyn site is all Ramada now. Not many golf pages either.

i was right!, my clever pun either wasn't noticed or it wasn't clever.

Gold Coast City council today voted to hand over the keys to Brett Lawton and family, of Sandy Gallop GC, and formerly Karana Downs/Brisbane River GC. I have heard nothing but good stuff about the way Brett operates from others in the industry and is very much members focused. I also spoke to him on the phone today and I am very positive.

The target is opening December 2019. He indicated membership of around $50pm with $25pm for the first 6 months and I am pretty sure he also mentioned dual membership.

I noticed it, but it was incorrect. Why did he get rid of Brisbane River?

down river was meant to refer to Brisbane River and Karana Downs. I never talked to him about that. but he is very passionate about running golf courses with his family.

Opening 29th November. Greens and course is looking great. Half the bunkers have been filled in.

Initial membership offer $25pm for 6 months. (unconfirmed rumour is that will expire 30 November)
After that $600pa. No idea how many members have been signing up, but I heard that its 'a lot'

there is an Open ambrose event Friday and Saturday, 2 shotgun fields both days, its almost fully booked out already.

Helensvale copped the worst of the Christmas day storm that hammered the Gold Coast. they are now saying it was a tornado at 160kmh

Golf course completey trashed, at least a week to clean up. I am on holiday, so I have missed all the excitement.
