Read today that the 14yr old Chinese amateur has been at Augusts preparing for the past month.
At that level, how much benefit would you get from that sort of preparation in advance?
Really get an understanding of the various course nuances. Hopefully help to control the adrenaline rush when the crowds are there.

Given that once you qualify you are allowed to play it as much as possible when it is open, I'd be there as much as possible. He may never get on it again (not likely if he is as good as they say, but possible).
