I think this is halfway through the 3rd month of having mine, and I haven't changed the battery yet. That said, I don't know what the general life of them is supposed to be.

Yeah I have noticed it is chewing the battery quicker than previously.

My battery was lasting about 4-6months, but i laser everything including chips.

I just got rechargeable ones, so that should sort out all the issues.

I've had my sureshot for around 2 years, maybe more, and haven't changed a battery yet.

My Leupold GX 3 has averaged better than 18 months between batteries, and I play ever other day. The Bushnells seem to chew batteries in comparison.

The V2s just die when the battery goes flat. It is scary the first time it happens.

I think my next rangey, if I ever get one, will be a Leupold. I sold my GX-4 and got the V3 but my impression is that the Leupold components were way better. Clearer readout, better optics, etc. Jolt on the V3 however is good...

Try the Z6 Jolt. No problem at all reading the display on it. Never tried a Leupold though!

I have the z6. The display on the Leupold is significantly bolder and brighter. That said no problem reading the z6, but i would rather the Leupold.

The best one of these I've owned was the Bushnell Hybrid GPS Laser - picked it up a little over a year ago (or so) from GCO for $429. Was freaking awesome…then I accidentally left it near the putting green at my course - realised I didn't have it on me about 5 mins later when I reached my tee shot on the opening hole, bolted back and some low-down bastard had already stolen it. And no-one ever handed it in…arseholes are everywhere, it seems. Was pretty shitty, but didn't want to fork out $400+ for another one, so just settled for the Bushnell NEO GPS. Does the trick…on a budget.
Interesting debate about whether a standalone laser or standalone GPS is more beneficial. I like that a GPS give you front/back/centre green distances at a glance, which is usually enough info for me. But having a laser to laser carries over hazards/bunkers or to the corner of doglegs etc is pretty damn handy too. Damn, wish I still had my Bushy Hybrid.

For those looking for a GPS, I noticed a JBHIFI catalogue this week which had the Garmin G3 for about $120. I got one last year and it seems to go alright. Rechargable batteries aa are necessary though

These are the ones dick smith were running out last year for $20. I have one at home, but they are pretty crap.

They are ok, but just for the middle of the green measurements. The zoom feature gives false readings.
