A while ago I played golf with a guy who worked at the distributor over here, he was telling me about the hybrid unit that day, although he had a tour V2. Not sure if the company he worked for is still the distributor though, and I've changed my home course, so it's unlikely I'd be able to catch up with him again.

    Check with Popper, Benno.
I've still got an account for the Yardage Pro and could download the courses you require.

    Default GPS & Rangefinder Eliminations/Recommendations

FWIW I went with the Bushnell Hybrid, which is now ready for my pickup from the Pro Shop.

I had the benefit of using Iain's Bushnell V2 rangefinder during the 36 hole foursomes, before making the final call.

Be sure to tell us how it goes!

Does the hybrid have 5x or 7x magnification?

I actually found the 7x models to be more difficult to use than the 5x...

Bring it to Melbourne. I may not pick up a club between now and then so I'll need something to blame!

Wasn't even a search. The thread was listed as a similar thread and I just had a look for the amusement of it. It did amuse me just a tiny bit.

Can you seriously only update the Bushnell Hybrid if you have Internet Explorer? The software side of things really lets Bushnell down.

Probably, it is the case with the XGC+, so likely now that they use a Web based Sync system, rather than an App.

Only old people who don't know better use it.
I don't have access to it at home.

As a relative newbie, GPS is helpful for courses I'm unfamiliar with. I'm loving Golfshot for my casual play. But having used other people's rangefinders, I do plan on getting one myself one day.

I have bad long distance vision so GPS is really helpful to me to find balls. Count down the expected distance from where I was to where I know I hit club X, and start looking. Very helpful.

excuse the ignorance, I have used a GPS and like that it tells you the distance to water, bunkers, front and back of the green etc but couldn't you use a range finder to do the same?

    In short, yes.

The only disadvantage of using a range finder is when you don't have direct line of sight, ie trees blocking your way, but there are ways to work it out.

After playing with Courty and the boys in Melbourne, I find the rangefinder useful on places I had not been before. I barely need a GPS at the home track as I know just about every sprinkler head and each pin position off by heart.

If anyone is hocking off a V2, let me know. I may be interested!
