Fakes on gumtree

Hi guys tonight i was just doing my usual Internet roaming and I was on gumtree and seen an add that caught my eye, an "odyssey japan protype 9ht" a $540 putter on gumtree for $99 so I clicked and looked at photos and it's just so fake it's not funny, for starters it's not even a "high toe" model. In add it says her husband won it and it's a $179 putter but he doesn't play golf.....so my guess is he bought a fake and is off loading it, I just purchased one of these and they are definitely not $179. Just thought I'd let people know, thanks

Yep, I got stung a few months ago on eBay.

I traded it to another member, and it was realised it was not the real deal. It is still sitting in its box in my spare room mocking me every time I walk past it.

The fit and finish seem good for a fake but I'm no Odyssey expert. Apart from the dodgy description, what are the photo cues? Or is it just a bog standard $180 type 9?

The title now says "BRAND NEW MRH ODYSSEY 9HT PUTTER WITH H/COVER - $ 99" so maybe they revised it?

doesn't ebay have the buyer protection program? did you try get your money back?

Well the first clue is on the bottom of the odyssey it say "ht" because it's mean to be the high toe model and look at the picture and it's not a high toe what so ever, plus they cost $540 not $179.

One thing I'm curious about that someone might be able to explain to meis, I found a site selling extremely cheap gear like set of ap2s for $300, but they accepted pay pal, now I thought if you pay through PayPal that your safe because they cover you on counterfeit products?

True but unless this has changed you may be required to send them back to the seller in order to get your refund so you'll be out of pocket.

Yes well that I'm unsure of, would be interesting to see what PayPal would say about this.

You will have an email of the transaction and or a PayPal receipt.
