Default St Andrews Private Golf Club

A new Thomson Perrett design starts next month next door to St Andrews Beach GC. There was initially going to be a second course there, and Doak had done a prelim layout. Now with the new owner, it is a TP design operating as an exclusive private members course with a membership of 281 (Thomson's 72 hole score to win the 1955 Open Championship). Lets hope it works.

And the mayor announced from Thursday on should not be shat into the creek anymore, because on Saturday beer is brewed.

I really don't see how courses like this can stay afloat long term.

Need to see the membership offering before deciding, but hard to see why you would there when you can be in at The National for bugger all these days and they have 3 courses and a clubhouse.

No Idea either, i thought they had gone away, perhaps wishful thinking on my behalf........

And for a "exclusive" private course, that i tell you now, no matter how good the land is will not be up to the architectural gem of the public one, will struggle to get the members.

Just compare the Ocean to Moonah, no comparison.

    Just my thoughts

Wow, for 3 courses that seems like a good deal.

It's a good and fair deal now, but you'd be spewing if you were one of the hundreds who paid $30k to join 10 years ago.

I know a few who sold their share before the collapse in value; wise move!

It is good to see that private golf can now be financially accessible to those who don't earn a 6 figure + salary. The National's current offering is financially reachable to many more who could never afford its original offering

If this is build by the current owner of St Andrews beach then his probably building it for him and his mates ... The guy bleeds money..

All over already, or is it a couple of holes to show and wait?
