Yep, you were too good.
That's the worst I've seen HMB for a loooong time.
What was the problem(s) with the course?
Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.
Some of the fairways were as brown as the rough at Mareeba. Greens were sort of ok, a few are infested with some sort of weed. Rolled fairly good but were slow. I friggin hate slow greens. Tees were very chopped up and uneven. The course is looking pretty rough around the edges, needs a lot of whipper snipping.
Having said that the green surrounds were very good.
It's a shame. I still love the layout of the course. Some say it's too short but I think it's a damn good challenge.
I had a 9 hole social hit with some work colleagues in October, not long after the greens had been renovated I believe. The course was looking rough around the edges even then.
I don't mind HMB either. But then again, I am happy to play almost anywhere.

I hate the course; too short with (IMO) some silly holes. As Mike said though, there are some good challenging holes too. The condition of the course was not at all good & if they don't get on top of the weed invasion in the greens, the course will really not be worth playing at all
