    Default Remax WORLD Titles

    Well, I'm up early.....

I have just seen that australia's Melissa Brydon has hit the longest ball of all the Ladies and is hrough to the World Championship Finals.....  She hit it 298 yards !!!! (269m)  Not much but considering the nearest has been 285 yards, she is damn well gonna win this thing !!!!

Guess what club she is using guys ??????

SMT 455 Deep Bore   in 6* 7* and 8*....  Come on....  what Mel doesn't know is that if she wins, she will get a $5000 USD bonus from SMT.... bringing it to a total of $15,000 USD she could win, plus a new sponsor,Honda, has decided that to the winner of the title, if they can hit 1 more ball after the finals, if tha ball goes longer than the winning distance, they win a brand new car !!!!!

I'm hoping she does it !!!!!!  The boys are hitting tomorrow, their time, and I'll be watching and let you all know or go to the link below..

    Cheers

What the 9.5* r7 tp not good enough.  Way to go girl.   Shinnick 283 in the other group could be close. I figured the tp would be great in the wet al carry.

15Kus + a car not bad- (do they supply the car in australia for her - left hand drive and import fees would kill  )

Good luck to the guys today.

Keza is it live of fox sport this year?

She is using SMT as a tribute to Mike Tait who paid her $2500 entry fee, that and she really likes it

It was never on Fox Pete..... they don't even want to know, but maybe this might change their mind.... She's way ahead, and from what I hear she is still very nervous yet she still can do it..... wait till she icks up a little confidence after he wins so far.

    Cheers

I thought she got 300 METERS in the Aussie Finals ... ie. 330 yards.

She's only young. She'll probably win it one of these days ...

BTW, are they going to show highlights on Foxtel at all?

Your right Jono...so her drive in the finals was 60 yards less than in Australia... Would love to see the final regardless as it is a big effort!!

I'm still impressed that she got to the finals, but I though exactly what Jaster said.... but hey..... who hasn't choked.... one time or another at the wrong time....we've all done it..... and she had $10,000 US Dollars on the line...

Fox Sports were not really interested in LD... maybe they will be now though....

    Cheers

I saw a clip from the Men's Championship a few years back (I think it was Jason Zuback's first). It was actually quite interesting. The music was pumping, the crowd was going wild. It was almost like before a weightlifter steps on the floor: he sniffs some smelling salts & slaps himself to fire up. Then they go out & let rip.

    I would watch it....

    if it was on...

    if I had pay tv.

    for Melissa
During the Womens finals of the Re/Max World Long Drive Championship,in Mesquite,Nv.
the announcer from ESPN would interview each competitor as they exited the tee box
    after hitting their 6 balls.
He'd congratulate the girls, maybe ask them a couple questions and so on.
It also gave the competitors a chance to thank their sponsers, the crowd or whoever.

Then we get down to the last girl,Melissa Brydon, all the way from Australia.
A really nice young lady, with a BIG smile and just full of personality who did everything
she could to get the crowd behind her.....LOUD ROWDY NOISE is her friend.
She was bombing the ball well past 300yds.,unfortunately only one ball made the grid
    at the 272 yd.mark.
After hitting her last ball OB, she waves to the crowd (all the grandstands were packed),
and somehow she still had that BIG smile on her face.
Grabs her drivers and stands at the exit of the tee box, waiting for the ESPN guy to give her
her turn at the micrphone like all the other women who preceeded her.

    NO!!!
This dumbass announcer immediately goes over to the winner, Stacey Shinnick (311 yds.)
and congratulates/interviews her for at least a minute or two.
Totally ignores Melissa Brydon, who is still standing at the tee box exit with this perplexed,
about ready to cry look on her face.
Now the crowd senses this very awkward moment, some start yelling "WHAT ABOUT MELISSA",
and this tool STILL doesn't even acknowledge that she's still standing less than 10 feet away
    from he and Shinnick.

Finally Brydon walks past the two of them and there's NO handshakes,NO hugs,NO nice going
    abosolutely nothing.
It was almost like she was invisible!
About the only ones who gave her due props, was the crowd.
And this is the women who had the longest drive leading up to the finals at 298 yds.,
when the weather was a lot cooler.
I wonder if she'll travel all this way next year?

All I can say is that its TRUE vindication for Tony and his decision to allow the best ever Australian long driver (male or female) to compete in the Australian Finals and then have them do so well at the worlds.

Well done Tony, fantastic vision and foresight!
