    Default 2013 NQ Matchplay

Scoring is 20 points for a win, 10 for a squared match, with a point per hole bonus (eg 2&1 is 3 points, 5&3 8 points).

Everyone plays everyone once. If we can agree on a suitable day, we'll get together roughly once a month to play as a group. Some have expressed that it may be difficult to get through so many matches in the required timeframe. If it looks to be an issue, Fireball matches could be a suitable solution.

    Proposed courses:
    Mossman GC
    Sea Temple CC
    Paradise Palms
    Half Moon Bay GC
    Cairns GC
    Gordonvale GC
    Mareeba GC
    Atherton GC
    Millaa Millaa GC

    Proposed match dates:
    November 18th
    December 16th (Cairns GC)
    January 13th (venue tbd)
    February 10th (venue tbd)
    March 10th (venue tbd)
    April 14th (venue tbd)
    May 12th (venue tbd)
    June 9th (venue tbd)
    July 7th (venue tbd)

The dates may be altered if it means we’ll get more players on the day.

The choice of venues for each round is open for discussion and should be based on course availability (corporate days etc.), course condition & weather forecast. Obviously the coastal courses should be avoided from December to March. If circumstances dictate it, I have no issues with playing some courses twice (eg. Mareeba) and skipping others (eg. Half Moon Ghey GC) due to weather/ course conditions.

    What's the finals format?

I vote top 8 make the playoffs.

I think all the a graders should have to play with one hand while balancing on one leg.

I think there should be points awarded for almost winning.

    Excellent.

Also points should be deducted for being over 6 foot.

I think el bobbo is worried about the likely possibility he will play all 9 matches and end with zero points....

I still like my idea anyway. Guy could only just loose by a little each week (sorry Mike there's that word again) and have no points to show at the end. Every else is in the hundreds.

    Guys, I have a suggestion; not original coz I know most of it was posted here before however I've added to it & posted for comment. Here goes;

FNQ match play days to be organised monthly with dates & locations published in advance. If you can't make it for some reason, you will be given a stipulated amount of time to get the match played (maybe two weeks). Failure to get the match played will result in a forfeit.

This way, not only does the match play get done but, we get a once a month FNQ Ozgolf get together! Days could be shared around golf courses various so we get to see what's around the area too.

I await the howls of protest eagerly

Sounds good. Don't know about the forfeit though. I do like the idea of a monthly get together. I wanna play you at HMB.

Bump. I want to hear some more feedback on the monthly matchplay rounds ideas. We could play the regions courses on a rota...

    Mossman GC
    Sea Temple CC
    Paradise Palms
    Half Moon Ghey GC
    Cairns GC
    Gordonvale GC
    Mareeba GC
    Millaa Millaa GC
    Mirage ?

Sounds good Courty except you left out Atherton. And I've never heard a good thing said about Mirage.

Let's just organise it. Mossman first up. When?

How could I miss Atherton? And yes, Mirage is pants.

2nd Sunday of each month sounds fine by me. Anyone else got any objections?

I may have to give this a miss this year, because of the new addition to the family due late February. I will come back to you Courty and let you know as soon as I can.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.
