Especially if the bar opens at 8am.

Because that would be deliberately playing slow.

Why not have the last tee time at 7.40?

And cut the size of the field? That might work at Carbrook but our fields rarely have many gaps. Nothing annoys me more when I'm doing the start than people that whinge when they get to the turn before the last allocated tee time. Two hours a nine. Four hours for 18. In a full Saturday field that's about as good as it gets. It's not playing slow it's playing to the pace of the bookings.I suggest you ask your club to cut the amount of tee times available in a weekend comp and see how popular you are or better yet do a start or two and see how your opinion is then.

I’m not sure I’m qualified to do a start.

I’m sure there’s much more to it than standing near the first tee and looking at a tee sheet as groups sort themselves out.

It's not difficult it's just painful dealing with assholes that complain about having to wait for the morning field to finish teeing off at their allocated times.

Hero is a strong word but sometimes appropriate.

Playing 36 hole stroke the other week, neither round was more that 4.15. Played in 3's and RH is an easy walk. But playing as a 3 seem to flow better and maybe you are more conscious of keeping pace. Clubs aren't likely to change from 4 to 3, but yeah a noticable difference.

I find the biggest culprits for slow play are the 13-20 handicappers with all the gear and no idea.

In summer we have a 2 tee start from 6-8.

The first few groups get around in well under 2 hours and the 8am groups are often late to start.

It’s fun walking off 9 at 7.40 and not teeing off 10 for another 30 minutes.
Is it a 9 hole course?

I used to play at one that this is exactly what happened.

Youd sit round for 20-40 minutes waiting for the last few groups to tee off.

I worked out fast its actually better to play in the last few groups as it flows all round with no stopping and getting cold. Or drunk.

My new course is a 1st and 10th tee start 2 times a day. Total private course.

    Works well.

    Nope, it’s 18 holes with a 2 tee start.

It’s ok, I’ve learned the error my ways now.

Because your the hero Ozgolf deserves, but not the one it needs right now.

Calling 3PP a hero only serves to diminish to true heroism of sook doing a start.
Cinderella story, out of nowhere, former greenskeeper, now about to become a Masters champion..... It looks like a mirac.. It's in the hole! It's in the hole!
