    Default Looking for a club to join in melbourne

    Hi, sorry if this has been done to death, but i'm looking for a club to join in melbourne;
    i live in ivanhoe, so my options as i see it are;
    latrobe - played there a bit and dont mind it, but does get pretty wet
    kew - $$, waiting period?
    green acres - as above
    hberg - played there a bit, not a big fan of the course, and is over priced and not financially stable?
    rosanna - i hear it gets real busy on comp days?
    commonwealth - i know members here, great course but pricey and a good 40mins away...

    so it's basically a balance of proximity, quality of course, $$. also to a lesser degree waiting period.
    Happy to hear your thoughts on these clubs and others.

    cheers

    I've been a member at Rosanna for just over a year now and highly recommend it. They have a half price joining fee promo until December.

    I have never missed out on a comp day that I wanted to play in. It can get a bit busy on Thursday arvos or Saturday mornings but you should be able to get a game.

    Course is in magnificent condition atm. Be happy to host you for a round.

    Rosanna is a nice track, as are La Trobe & Kew.

    Green acres not quite as good but still a nice track. Probably in the same bracket as Heidelberg.

    Commonwealth would obviously be the best of the lot. Would all have to come down to prices of course but I would probably rule out Heidelberg and Green Acres if it were me.

    Just my $0.02...

    whats everyones thoughts about Commonwealth? I have never played there, but everyone seems to say good things about it.

    They have a good deal for juniors...

    I've played there quite a bit and think it's fantastic and getting better with the new fairways and tree removals. Bit pricey for me though unfortunately

    Kew is good if you can get 5 people to recommend you, give green acres a skip I reckon.

    Also if for some reason Kew changed their membership policy please let me know, I wouldn't mind joining Kew...

    Kew then Rosanna on that side

    Last time I looked it was a 10k joining fee at Commonwealth.

    And I was the one that put in the trees!!!!!! It was even over the top at the time, playing there next week. it's great to see the improvements since I left the course in '94, by Christ I copped it (the new holes) at the time.

    $5,000 joining fee for younger members. Which can be paid off over 10 years @ $500 a pop!

    annual subs would be <$1800 for me also!

    I would love a round, but guest fees are EXPENSIVE!

    Puji at that price and cost structure you would be a little touched in the head not to look seriously at Commonwealth as a viable option.

    I think that will be the go.

    Although I might be throwing the golf towel in come January/ February. Thinking of moving to London for work for 12months

    Once I sort that out I'll know what to do.
