I don't think so much with iphones, but with some other phones from Kogan you have to be careful of the frequencies they work on. They often are selling international models that don't necessarily have all the 4g frequencies that Telstra has. I don't know how much of an issue it is, but something to think of.

They also handle the warranty themselves as their iPhones are grey imports I believe (which means they don't have an Apple AU warranty).....

Not dodgy per se... like it's legal and stuff. But it might be more of a hassle getting things fixed if you have an issue.

If you have an AU purchased iPhone you can go into a genius bar and get it looked at on the spot, or send it back and get a refurb (in advance, if you're willing to pay a small fee up front). With Kogan you may have to send back to them and wait. All depends how badly you need your phone and how likely you think there is to be an issue. Electronics can be finicky.

Thanks BenM. I did look at a few threads on Whirlpool today about it. It has the potential to be a hassle if something goes wrong.

The missus might be able to get one from her work for zero, when someone upgrades at the end of a contract, which would probably be an iPhone 6. The problem is that it could be a couple of months, and won't know what memory it might have until it happens. It might be a couple of frustrating months limping with this crappy iPhone 4S with a broken power button, ordinary battery, but 64GB, or I could trial the Windows phone for a couple of months.

    I hate decisions.

My work phone is a 5C. It's essentially an iPhone 5 with a plastic body.

Yep. The same applies to the cameras they sell (and probably everything else).

Don't do the Windows phone. Ashes had one and it was comical how many issues he had with it.

Or maybe it was just Ashes.

Thanks Blakey, but I'm starting to think that 16GB isn't going to cut it. Even with 32GB, I have to do a bit of management of music, etc, to not fill it up.

The options I had for the free iPhones coming off contract were the 6S 16GB or a 6S 64GB with a smashed screen. I went with the 64GB and got the screen repaired for $230, so it is still a bargain. I'll try harder to keep it away from water.

I'm not very tech savvy with phones.
Is there any technical use issues buying an unlocked new iPhone 6 Plus out of Hong Kong?
Can I hot spot it to my 5s and use it like an iPad?

My 5s is a work phone and company property. Upgrading that one isn't possible unless it dies and then I'm not sure I get much of a choice which model/size it would be replaced with.

Only thing I can think of from the top of my head is that the charger will need to be replaced

Most are USB chargers these days, so that should not be a problem.

Pissed off thread, or here...... ****s me!

How mind bogglingly ****ing stupid is this ****ing device!!! Downloaded some completely free couch to 5k podcasts for Jasmine to use to start running longer distances. She's really keen to give it a go. Have to load them into itunes itself which is just a stupid ****ing idea as it is. Then try to transfer them to her iphone and they won't transfer because she has icloud or something turned on. Have to turn icloud syncing or whatever it is off to be able to transfer them to her phone, but it says if we do that it'll delete all the music she has (Apple music subscription) on her phone. Who the ****ing hell comes up with these ****ed ways of ****ing doing these things. They are ****ed in the head. Ultimate media device my ****ing arse. After spending the last hour or so trying to get something working on kyan's xbox I'm ****ed with all these ****ing tech devices........ fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

I don't have any problems with podcasts. Why wouldn't you just get it directly from the Podcasts app on the iPhone instead of going via a PC?

Cause it's not in the apple store. They are ones he made for himself, and I used when I started. Freely available from his site. Don't know what any others are like. But these work fine, so why can't I just ****ing put them on an iphone......
