From an interview today with Apple Senior Vice President. Phil Schiller:

He noted that it wasn't possible to make devices any thinner with the existing 30-pin Dock Connector, though the company doesn't take changing the plug -- which had been around for 9 years -- lightly. "This is the new connector for many years to come," Schiller explained.

It is not the changing of the port that is the issue. It is the charging $30 for a 15 cent adapter that is pissing people off.

Yes - there will be versions on eBay in about a week - but that is not the point, where is the reward for loyalty for using a product ?

You could have had a box of them and said for $5 extra i will send you the adapter ... not $30 FFS.

I was commenting on that every forum I've read so far has had at least one person say that they were pissed off about changing the port and then in the next sentence complain that the iPhone 5 was not enough of an "upgrade".

Hmmm...not sure whether to go from Android to the iPhone 5 when my contract's up in December or upgrade from my 2G iPod touch to the new touch. Depends on what the bulk of comparison reviews between the SGSIII and iPhone 5 determine, I guess.

Why on earth would storage excite you? I throw 64GB microSD cards around like they are disposable... because they pretty much are. I paid under 15 bucks for a 32GB microSD card just the other day and yet so many companies ( whose products don't have expandable memory) tout such a cheap commodity as a 'feature' and charge a fortune for it.

These sorts of premiums and advantages are touted ex nihilo​ and the consumer eats it up.

Because I like to store movies and tv series on my iPhone so if I'm ever stuck anywhere with 20 minutes or more to kill I can just watch something.I didn't realise it was such a crime to like to be able to store stuff on my phone...
