Default HELP Please: How to play Yarra Yarra Golf Course?

    Hi,

I'm playing in the 2012 Senior Amateur at the Yarra Yarra Golf Course early in September 2012, never played there and don't want to embarrass myself.

Last year I played Tanunda Pines and was disappointing and found it hard to break 95.

I'm currently playiong off 4.1, I need your help. HaHaHa

I've downloaded the Yarra Yarra course guide and compiling an A4 cheat sheet, I don't want to wear my reading glasses, hence A4. HaHaHa

Please, I can't use my Leupold GX-3 laser in an Australian event so I need a lot of help.

Suggestions please, I need help, I don't want to set my goals to break 100, I want to break 80.

    Kind Regards, Ken

Hit the Fairway's, don't short-side yourself and try the leave it below the hole! 20' up the hill is better than 6' down the hill.

Finally, play shot for shot and don't think score!!!

Work on your fade off the tee. And putt well. Pretty straightforward course really.

    Hi,

I'm in big trouble then, I'm a drawer of the ball.

I can hit a fade if I have to but not with consistent results.

    Kind Regards, Ken

    New holes? Really???

    Which did they take out?

EDIT: Just looked at the "Course Tour" and didn't see anything new from when I played there in late 90's / early 00's.

The new 3rd is a shocker, the 4th is not too bad.

    Hi,

Do you mean the 3rd, 290m par 4, sounds like a 7 iron, then 7 iron is a safe play.?

    Kind Regards, Ken

    New 3 is utterly dreadful.

    Hi,

What, a really hard/difficult hole, or just poorly designed?

Last year the Australian Senior Masters was played at Tanunda Pines in SA and I was deadful, was lucky to break 95. I had been trying to make swing changes for nearly 3 years and even though I had some promising results, my shot making was very inconsistent, some shots left, then some right.

I eventually worked out by concentrating on swing positions, I wasn't completing my swing, very poor shoulder turn.

Over the last 3 months I went back to my 40 year old swing that got me down to 3 h'cap some years back. My consistency has greatly improved, I've finally worked out the key to a good and consistent swing is a COMPLETE SHOULDER TURN.

I just don't want to preform poorly again, it's difficult when you've never played a course before.

I reckon a practice round and 3 tournament rounds for $140 at a course like Yarra Yarra is pretty good value.

    Kind Regards, Ken

The 3 I knew was weird, but ok. 4 was a great little hole. When did they make these changes?
