Yes. Before ZZ Top he played in a band called The Moving Sidewalks in Austin..the Elevators were a big influence. The Reverend Willie G has never forgotten where he came from. Elevators only released 3 LPs and by the third they'd already self destructed.

Meg Mac's 1st Album is out today. I haven't found an online link as yet, but I have the CDs, I so don't care. As good as I had hoped for! This girl drips soul.

In the lead up to the festival that I went to in the weekend, I checked out the music of several of the acts that would be performing. The one that appealed to me the most was Cub Sport, who just released their second album.

I've been saving up this post for quite a while.

My ipod library has been hovering just below a magic number, and last night, enough money burned a hole in my pocket to demand I buy some tunes in order to reach the magic 10,000 song tally.

I have a little list of tunes I want to own but don't, and I have an itunes search every now and again to see if any appear in a compilation worth buying. I absolutely refuse to pay $2.19 for a single song when you can often get 60 or more songs on a compilation for $20, or sometimes cheaper.

So, last night the jackpot was discovered. American Life In The Summertime by Francis Dunnery, and Lost by The Badloves both appear on a newish compilation called 90's Throwbacks, along with 30 odd usual 90's suspects and about 20 90's songs so obscure I've never heard of them. Mostly English songs, I suspect.

Technically, song 10,000 may have been Groove Is In The Heart, but it doesn't really matter.

I don't buy (or even acquire through other sources) much music nowadays, so I think it will be a very long time, if ever, before I reach another milestone number.

Mac DeMarco - This Old Dog

Ok, this is an interesting one,

Was @ the D D Dumbo gig when this song 'On the Level' came on, I shazam'ed it and downloaded the entire album onto my iPhone

Really struggled with most of the tracks but was hearing rave reviews everywhere regarding this album, so I pursued listening to it while doing activities

6 months on and I love the entire album, sort of like a cross between Ween and Jose Gonzalez, I cannot stop listening to it and many of the tracks are stuck in my head

Takes a while to get the hang of the simple structured song melodies and the drone style retro synth and guitars but a great album to have a few beers with

Grabbed some of this girls stuff on Apple music. I've seen some vids on fb of her drumming, but caught this this morning - it's a live loop recorded mashup - Insane! And her voice is to die for!

Peteyd will be both shocked, and happy with this!I listened to my first ever Black Sabbath album today, Live Evil from '82. I was a bit disappointed when I quickly realised it wasn't Ossie singing; I knew he wasn't in them forever but I figured that old he was still there.Still, suffice to say I really enjoyed it. I really only one Paranoid, but found quite a few I liked. I've also downloaded The End (live, recorded 2017) and an ultimate collection to listen to.Also checking out The Struts (great version of Ballroom Blitz), and some Bowie.Spotify rocks! Their Discover playlist, and Daily Mix playlist are fantastic! The Release Radar playlist usually works out pretty good too, though the last one for me had a tonne of country in it.........

Nabbed a compilation a week back and have been playing them heaps since. If you get interested the Double Cd The Best of Black Sabbath is a great extended intro. Grabbed it after researching their compilations.
