Yeah...... I'd say the last time I chose to listen to Country was Cows With Guns...
I was driving around though when I finished the album so was able to get through a few Dead Daisies songs to get it out of my system.
Sorry Ashes, wasn't a fan of that one.

Picked up Rufus' 'Bloom' which on first run through was nice enough.

Paul Dempsey's 'Strange Loop' is a fantastic album.

Can only imagine as I've never seen him live. Have heard good things.

I quite enjoy his latest solo album and the last Wagons album for when in the mood for something a bit more relaxed. Both currently albums of choice for background office music along with Blackberry Smoke.

Pleasantly surprised by the new Screaming Jets album, particularly after their previous effort.

This is probably the weakest track on the album:

Been listening to both the 1970 original cast recording, and the 1992 Australian concert recording of Jesus Christ superstar. As a kid I would wake up to this ona Saturday morning. And Rob and I went to the 92 concert. Damn I love these. The original is just do funky with some awesome musicianship; the Aussie one all rock.
These are some of the very few recording where I actually listen to the lyrics, rather than just hear the vocal as though it's just another instrument. But the writing in this was just so bloody smart. Love love love it.

He's fantastic. But, you should listen to the 1970 recordings. It holds up just as well! And there's just this funkier edge to the music.

Yeah i agree. I have listened to the 70's version and thiught it was pretty cool, definitely not as 'rock' as the Farnham era versions, but still pretty good.

There are 5 albums available on Google music. And most of them have bonus live tracks on them too. I might give them a listen myself. I know digital download is not what you're after. But they are there, $13 each.

    Cheers Gougy ,

Must resist digital....if I started I would then need to do all my cd's because I couldn't have half and half [OCD]....

a bit rough - if you don't mind that you'd like what they morphed into - The Hold Steady - particularly their earlier stuff

You could buy and download digitally, and then burn them to CDs.

Easy enough to produce them as well if you have the right software. Ditto printing on the CDs.

Yeah, I get it Damo. I still have to get my head around not really 'owning' the music.

I ended up going with a digital subscription to Google music. I guess it costs me about the cost of 10 cds a year. But I have been able to find some cds I wasn't able to find through any other source (really any other source ) and I'm often keeping an eye on this thread and when people post up what they're listening to, I grab out for a gander too. I'll often not like it, but that's what broadening my horizon is about. Hence I now have 5 Lofter Puller albums on my phone, in particular to listen to the live tracks on them.

And I hadn't looked in a while, but over the last year there have been about 10 extra live recordings from Pat Benatar added, ranging from '79 to '88. I'm in rock chick, heavy guitar, self taught pounding drummer heaven.

It's time to move into the 21st century Damo.

I was the same back in early days, and it took me a long time to move on. It is a bit melodramatic to say so, but the Ipod Classic has changed my life. Everything is so much easier on digital, and shuffle mode is just the best thing.

One of the other fun things about converting is revisiting your entire CD collection and deciding what to include and what to cull. I recall another poster (maybe Daves?) having thousands and thousands of CD's he was transferring. I wonder if he ever did them all.

Having said that, I still haven't moved to streaming. I like 'owning' my music (and other people's) for ever and ever.

While I'm here, I may as well say that I quite like Sia's latest, This Is Acting. As a person, Sia is someone I want to dislike, but I like her music.

I've just finished putting my CDs onto my computer. I probably have a smaller collection (just under 700 albums).

Definitely loved pulling out old favourites, ones I hadn't played in forever, and some I may not have even played at all!

Current latest addition is James Blake's 'The colour in anything'. I was a massive fan of his previous album and this one is right up there for mine. His voice is amazing and he just seems to make 'beautiful' music.
