Aenima by far the best by daylight then my next is Undertow.
Couple of real good tracks on Lateralus but the rest falls away to be same same for me.

    & Itunes, I think it's great

I feel like the band has fallen victim over the years from too many fanatical fan bois. Between 2006-16 IMO the band got complacent and potentially a little bit of Hubris kicked in.

Maynard was the glue that stuck this band together, as soon as he left town to Arizona and started making wine and other music the band fell to pieces. Adam strikes me as a artie like person, who needs a clip around the ear hole to get his sh*t together. Without Maynard in his ear he lost it a bit. There are rumors of some rifts going on between members. I take my hat off to Maynard who I reckon pulled this all together. With the recent Joe Rogan podcast Maynard hints at the frustration of being the cat herder.

    Just my opinion

Melon (Anthony Fantano) has really laid into the Tool record.....

I agree with about 70% of this review but feel like he needs to give the album a bit more time, his comments regarding the interlude parts being 'horrible' hmmm not so sure that's correct

A light 4 out of 10, personally I think that's a tad harsh, was thinking for like a mid to heavy 6

I have had a chance to listen to it twice now. After hearing the single released earlier, I didn't have high hopes. Now though, I am liking it more. It would be hard to expect them to write better songs than Lateralus, 46&2, 3rd Eye or parabol/paraobla, and they haven't here. I think the songs are occasionally too long, and too "noodle-y". A few could have had a few minutes cut and been tighter. I am also not sure about the "djenty" riffs that pop up - a clear nod to Messhuggah (who they rate), but don't really work at Tool tempo and tones.

For me, its evolutionary, not revolutionary, which goes against the great Tool Albums. I'd give it a 7/10, and will continue to enjoy listening to it.

Default MUSIC .... What's on your playlist at the moment ??

What started out as a joke listening to arguably the most bogan band in the world but....

I’m really starting to get into the new album from Tropical F*ck Storm.

I used to be a big fan of these guys but haven't given them much rotation in a long time.

I never knew this was based on a book. I'll be ordering a copy and passing it on to my kids afterwards.

I realised the other day I had no Billy Joel in my spotify playlists! I grew up drumming to Joel, EJ, Aussie Crawl and Men at Work..... at least the most of everything else. So added some live recordings of some of my fav Joel songs. Was walking yesterday when Scene's From An Italian Restaurant was blasting my my earbuds, and F'me if it really is such an amazing song! Just watch him playing it live in '78ish on Youtube..... Just a friggin awesome song.

Been a while since this thread has seen any action...

I'm always sniffing about for new artists to explore, and recently came across Music-Map. I haven't explored any of the results yet, but the first few I've tried have uncovered a ton of new artists to look into.

Never heard of it. I tend to find new artists from my Spotify Discover Weekly and Release Radar curated playlists. Though I hadn't realised until recently that Spotify also has a Playlist Radio option when listening to a playlist, so I've also started using that when listening to my fav playlists and have found new stuff through that too.

Never realised they had this, I used Literature-Map for my old job all the time, can highly recommend that....

    EDIT: Interesting.

They also have Movie-Map, a similar thing for Art, and a very cool Product Chart....

I wonder how the algorithm behind these maps works...? Literature Map gives some expected results when I put in a few authors I like, but when I put 'The Departed' into Movie Map, one of the closest matches was 'National Treasure'.

I always get Hot Chip recommended because of the other artists that I listen to, but besides their top songs, I can never get into them. These resources are always good to find things to try though. Or scouring back through this thread, or the book thread, like I did several months.
