I've only played the plantation course at kapalua. It was great but I was a little underwhelmed, maybe I just went in with expectations too high. I don't regret paying the big dollars to play there as it was a bucket list course but I wouldn't class it as a 'must play'.
Planning to visit Hawaii at the end of next year. Mainly for diving on the Big Island but hoping to play some golf there. Be in November/December so not sure that Northside courses like Turtle Bay would be a good idea. Anyone played the courses on the big Island?

Played Mauna Kea (standout was 3rd hole https://youtu.be/Lnrq9qrKVT4), Mauna Lani North & South and Waikaloa Beach Kings about 20 years ago. I remember all the courses being hard, mainly cos it was very windy & I was stupid enough to try to play them from the furthest back tees. If I was to pick 1 it would be Mauna Kea.
