Not to bad at shanks on a par 3 either

Power shanks off the tee with a medium to long iron are the bomb

Shanked a 4 iron with an additional slice on it today. Not a bad 95m shot into the water 😂

Without any warm up on a cold wet morning. hit an awesome 3w drive on the first hole, with 145m to the hole, pretty proud of myself till i shank my 7i at near 90* towards the trees

Ended the day pretty dismally... At least the weather was better than my golf

Had three shanks on the weekend and ended up -2 in a single-v-par. Gotta love par comps.

Standard number. I believe the week before was my first shank free round since my return to the game.

Who has 1/2 a dozen putts & a few chip shots?

Throw the gear together, run into the office and pay, have one practice swing on the first tee where you take a 3 foot divot spraying your playing partners and say "Hell, I'm a bit stiff today".

When you pulled that at Nash Old, I thought your stiffness related to the course.

    Now it all makes sense....

So that's why you can't putt inside a foot

I got away from this routine before a pennant match this year.

Decided to go to the range and hit 10 balls.

Take the spot to the left of a former pro. Grab 3i, Whammo!

Unleashed my yearly shank in fine fashion, screaming it across the range.

2018 was good, made it to December before unleashing one. This year's happened about two months ago. Going to be tough to keep it at 1 for the year.

Had a beauty on the 13th hole at Half Moon Bay today. Dog leg par 4 and I hit a very fat tee shot. Tried to play a long chip shot to the corner of the dogleg with a 9 iron and instead managed to hosel it into the mangrove.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

Had a good one pitching from pin high after pulling my approach 5m left of the green today. Ended up 40m back down the fairway. Took an 8 on a par 3.

From an impossible position I made the world's best bogey, but that is no consolation really.
As I bumped this thread, it is appropriate that I keep it going, with almost an exact repeat of the shot quoted above.

Different club, but the same tee, and a very similar result.

I do not, repeat do not, have a mental block problem with the 17th tee at Ballina. But I may play a hybrid next time, even though it is only 120m long.

Have you thought about gutting a wedge instead?

or better still, its time for a chipper off the tee.

Ok, I'll keep my eye out for a set of old Lynx irons.
They made some tiny height heads in the 80's that were similar to Chipper size. can't find pics atm.

I like how you've made an effort for us to picture the shank.
