    Reporting for duty.

6th hole. First ever shank in competitive golf. Should've made the bogey putt, but deserved a double. Was a turning point for my round though, some of the best iron striking of my life from the 7th hole on.

Got out of the bunker. I’m calling that a win.

Had a classic today on 16 at Thaxted. Hit a great drive and then pulled a 7 iron left of the green. I was left with a straight forward chip. I proceeded to shank the chip shot straight into the bunker. I wasn't even mad, just had to laugh at that point.

Riverlakes 18th on Monday. Great Driver around the corner, middle of the fairway past the 135M mark. Well past everyone else. So I waited for the others to play. Pull 7 iron for the shot into the wind to a tucked pin. Hit the purest hosel ever, 45 degrees left, grassy ball mark in the middle of the hosel to confirm it. Just missed the guy mowing his back lawn and clanged into his Colourbond side fence. The protective netting is set up for much worse first shots, it seems! And they don't seem to have considered lefties! He heard it, but he seem confused as where it had come from!

Add 3 to my tally, all in the 1st round of the club champs. Ridiculous.

Forgot to post for last weekend, just had the ever so slightest little tickle on the hosel. Like it caught 1mm of hos, enough to go about 10° offline at most, but it was DEFINITELY there.

I have to dob myself in for a shanked 8 iron that was only saved from OB by some trees.

Too numerous to bother posting about them lately. It's less trouble to just report when I didn't have one, which was yesterday (if you don't count warming up in the nets).

Three in a row with a lob wedge after a nice drive. None the rest of the round, or for a few rounds before this either

Nah, they changed it to penalty area a couple of months ago. Not allowed to play from in there though.

    Bumping for TC apparently.

While I’m here I may as well put my hand up for one on the Par 3 13th at Tee Tree Gully today.
A crappy contact Hosel Rocket with a 4iron off the tee that rattled the trees and flicked further right out onto the 12th fairway. Made a good 4 from there.

Yeah #16 RA. Smashed into the tree and bounced onto the sand. First one in about 3 years

Haven't posted for a long time. I'm known as "Sir Shankalot" and have many people look at my swing and could not pick what I was doing. I have no feeling from my feet to mid to high calves and am 6' 4" and have moderate balance issues. I confess that I have had up to 16 shanks in a round and still lived just. I have never been a shanker until the last couple of years, coming and going for months at a time. I finally bit the bullet and drove 100 miles to see a pro, a PGA type pro. The best $55 I have ever spent on golf. Sorted my problem in 30 minutes. Reluctantly returned to golf comp without time to practice and now after 7 rounds and one 6 up Par comp I have had Zero shanks. Lesson learned - see a PGA pro if you are having problems.

Checking in for a beauty on the first hole at Half Moon Bay. Solid drive down the right hand side of the fairway. Gap wedge out from the green and hit a beautifully smooth shot off the hosel and OOB right. Still managed to make 5 a 2.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

Checking in before I lose count during S.A Champs

    Blackwood Fri
Hit a good drive down the 1st.
Should have hit 5iron for the distance but took one extra for the raised green. Grubby hosel rocket that ran along the ground that was stopped from going OB by a bush.

    Mount Compass Saturday
Perfect 3 wood for position off the tee on the Par 5 10th.
Took 5iron for the layup position. Got a small piece of the hosel into the trees most likely lost ball. Dropped another and that was all hosel further right and deeper into the lost ball territory.

2nd ever comp shank today, first hole at North Adelaide. Drive was on the edge of a fairway bunker, so I was standing almost on top of the ball. PW hosel into the right rough, from where I made bogey.

    Default Shanks by OZgolfers

Over the back of the Par 3 12th in the long fluffy grass at Horsham. Back up the step slope to a blind cup cut close to the back.
All hosel straight into the green side bunker on the flop attempt.

I normally like to add pictures to my posts in here but today there were too many to remember.

Played 2 rounds today. North Haven in the morning then Balaklava in the afternoon.
Rack up a total of 4 hosel rockets from those 2 rounds.
All when chipping onto the green.
1x at North Haven and 3x at Balaklava.
    What a fun day.
