Jack is referring to me.... The former Shanker. I'm up to over 10 games without one.

If I'm on his left that puts him in my firing line though.. I don't seem to play any holes down the left side , my slice doesn't allow it, I may just stay on my toes and be agile?

Just saw this - magnificent shank out of the back of the pot. Loved the super slo-mo replay that they showed about 4 times!

    Nice par though.

    Sorry, meant bogey.

Perfect place for it in front of the crowd at the last. Wonder if there was any sledging from the crowd?

I went up to have a look at a green on Friday after our first players shot. Was coming back and stood on a 45* angle for our second player. No one had looked like hitting a shank all day and this is the only one that happened but this bastard fizzed over my head by about 18 inches apparently. 2 foot lower it would clocked me straight between the eyes at speed

Certainly sobered me up for the next 10 minutes or so.

I'm not cured. Had a corker today - 60 out, third shot into par 5, hit punch wedge, and punched it clean off the hosel, 45 degrees right with height AND shape. Quality effort. 8.5/10 on the shankasaurus scale.

    Oooh my...

I had them on the range a couple of weeks ago. Hit maybe 7 in a row. Classic sequence issue for me. Up & out = shank city

36 holes today and had at least 10.. seemed every extra shot I played on the second 18 came out pure though but never when it mattered!

One on the first hole kind of sealed my fate for what was ahead.

when you tee up ball and swing away only to see your ball roll the lenght of your tee and the trench leading up to it is longer, is this considered a shank or something else

not a shank. shank is a hit on the hosel (where the shaft goes into the club) that usually spits out to the right making a hideous whining sound.
