There is much more to a shank than mere angle. Flight path and resting place are significant.

Also highlights how lucky he was it was full hosel. A half sherman might have ended in the piss.

There’s no water under the trees.

The diagram doesn’t show the ball going through the trees. I’m not sure how that happened.

Was think more half the angle, not half the length. Always better to fully commit.

Oh. That wouldn’t have counted as a shank, that’s just a fade

Cool. I didn’t even need to mention it was my 2nd shot of the day.

In your opinion. This forum has taught me that course strategy is subjective.

I think that's what they call course management.

The pin was tight to the right, just over the bunker.

Short siding myself with a chip over the water was the smart thing to do.

Just like to report that no hosle Rockets were seen by 3 Oz Golfer's on the 3 day Riverland trip.
Big surprise as every other bad shot got a gig.

Seven iron bump and run attempt from in the trees after a drop from a water hazard saw a lovely shank today that went into the water hazard, although playable, a bit further down. It was a lazy shot after being broken from my last shot, which was a lovely low punch three iron through a narrow gap in the trees, heading nicely towards the green only to hit a thin overhanging branch and being lost in the water hazard. Care factor dropped big time after that.

Back to backs yesterday on the 18th at Murrumbidgee Country Club. Put it this way. I am putting from 40m off the green at the moment as I am terrified of wedges.

I discovered I had left my sand wedge on the 17th green when I went to pull it out 85m out on the 18th. My 60 wasn't going to get me home, so I tried a bump and run. Hosel, into the greenside trap.

Then the next shot played from the trap hoselled over the green 45 degrees off target.

    #goodtimes

I also putted into a bunker from 40 metres out.

    And still had 32 points.

    Checking in for Saturday's round.

11th hole. Second shot on a par 5, laying up with a 4i from the left rough. Ball was sitting fine, smoked it off the left hand side of the grooves OB.

12th. Par 3 Bad lie on the tee. Hit a screamer into the trees right. Hit 9i on the front fringe, then missed a 2 footer and made double.

16th par 3. Got another bad lie .
After making a birdie on 15, hit it 80m right on a 110m par 3.

    Happy days!!

Check in for 2nd Round of S.A OzGolf Champs
Went long and right with second. Lie was grass but tight.
Had 10m to go straight back into strong wind. Tried to spin the crap out of the 54 and fly it on top of the pin.
Result was a low runner off at angle through the sandy trash just catching a bit of grass behind the green.

    Bump for Sunday at Blackwood
After a pulled drive into the trees and flushed bullet 1 iron back out to 140m on the par 5 9th I mentioned to my playing partners I would still find some way to the f*** the hole up from there.
Sure enough a pulled 7 iron left a pitch shot back over the mound onto a green with not a lot of green to work with. Trying for a bit of extra spin on the 54 saw the ball scuttling across the ground at angle down off the front of the green. Stubbed the next chip and putted from long range with the wedge then picked up. Mission accomplished f***ing the hole up.

How RUDE of me to forget to post here following the Vic Champs.

Including the Pre and Post rounds I racked up 36 hosel rockets over the course of 9 days- a total of $50 went in to the tin.

It was a mix of long irons, short irons, pitches and bunker shots BUT there wasn't a single Helicopter all week (at least I dont think there was).

Since coming home Tuesday night ive played 3x 9holers, 18 on Saturday and 27 on Sunday and have only had a further 1, phew!!!
