Shanks per rounds played would be better.

With a ratio of 10%, Shavey would win easily.

Yep. Shavey would win it by a mile.

Go GF the lot of you :sly: but I do like the sound of winning something at the champs.

My first entry in this thread - but only because I hadn't really discovered it yet.

Downhill par 4 14th at The Springs...perfect 3 wood with the breeze leaving a little flick wedge in...should be a great birdie chance.

Nah. Try going sideways, playing out of the rocky crap and scrambling a fine bogey. The pain.

    Many more to come...

On Sunday's round, I had birdied the first and was in a good spot on the second fairway, thinking that things might be going my way, only for the 8 iron approach shot to glance the hosel.

Some minor work done Saturday. Had a woeful bunker lie (little lip of sand behind ball) and the pin was right in front of me on a pretty new still hard green. Took a big chop and felt the slightest of hosel. It went a teeny bit right of where i aimed and trickled across the green before just catching the side of another bunker and rolling in. This time i was severely cramped in my stance and had to take it back outside/steep to avoid the bunker wall. This was a sure recipe and i duly achieved the mandatory 45* of true shank. It ended up 10 meters back in front of the green and i got up and down for a mighty double.

After starting the round with a dirty triple and being 6 over on the front 9 I managed to get it back to 5 over when stepped on the par 3 14th.

The 14th always plays the same length as the 9th where I flushed a 3iron to 6foot. Took 3 iron again and it went off to the right with some extra side spin straight over the OB fence.

Managed to hit the nervous next ok but had to make an up and down for a double.

    Hello!

Lefthand fairway bunker on the 18th at Secret harbour. 58* wedge and the ball came out at almost 90* compared to where I was aiming so I was quite impressed with my efforts. Managed to put my 3rd shot about 2 foot from the hole and walked away with a par.

    In this instance, #shanksarefunny

Good to see your bunker play is improving GK!

Only one shot to get out then par the hardest hole on the course.

I did some bunker practice the other night and was starting to build a bit of confidence. Didn't translate to on course today Even went from bunker to bunker on the par 3 14th

Signing in. Hit a flush shank 3i off the 2nd tee at Jindalee on Saturday. Reload and salvaged bogey. Still lost the hole because my opponent made bird.

I went shank free on Saturday but one of the juniors I played with ( +2 marker) hit a beauty on Saturday.. Super long drive leaving 8 iron into our Par 5 5th. shanked it onto the 6th tee box, Never seen this guy hit a bad shot before so I was in stitches... he stopped the laughter when he got up and down for a bird after the ball hit the pin and nearly dropped for eagle..

More than handy.. but he doesn't really care about it much anymore either which is a shame.. No more practice just rocking up and playing every 2nd-3rd Saturday and shoots under par pretty consistently.

Birdie after a shank. Surely not too many in that club.

Tom , what are the odds for first shank in the QLD champs? I wouldn't mind throwing a few on me to have one during Thursdays round.
