Played a round earlier today with a well known member who hit a couple of hosel rockets from the sand....

None were overly remarkable, but well worth a mention in a thread of this quality.... You agree Timmy

A playing partner had one yesterday. About 45* angle. But nothing spectacular.

Golfer69 is a classic for talking it up. At the inaugral Leon memorial day on the very first hole he was yapping away that he will probably hit a skank, and sure enough got one away on his first iron of the day.

Funny how this posivite talking doesnt work for him at the TAB.

It was a ripper. Not 100% convinced it was a shank, cause it didnt feel like it, but the divot said otherwise

Several years back, I saw a pro shank one off the tee on the par 3 15th at huntingdale masters. Absolute hacker of a shot. Thankfully there was no access down the right side past the tee or else he would have cleaned up a few spectators.

On that note, I played in a pro am at The Vines with a 7am shotgun off 16. He hit an awesome hosel rocket straight into the soup for his first.

Yesterday, +1 at the turn having started on 10; Sliced drive on 1st barely clearing water hazard (which really shouldn't be in play). Fortunate to locate ball nestled down in shortish rough with a clear path to the green. Lined up, swung & bam.... Hozel rocket across second fairway into the trees. Shaking on my next shot, put it near the green & made double!! Finished +7 for the day

Seriously, how many big name pros actually play in these events? I'm sure I've posted his name in another thread here before I played.

I hit one on the 12th at Wynnum today. It was a clean shank 3 Iron, that went at about a 45° angle, and about 160m..... It made for some interesting play when combined with my tendency to spray anything today.

The one you hit on 15 had a bit of control as it slowly floated into the rough. I tend to go for a more violent stinger hosel hit two yesterday the first hit a tree and went in the water.
