I have justified a non-appearance in this thread by saying that chipping shanks don't really count. I had one at Colonial on Friday. I had another one while trying to play an open-the-face flop shot at Ballina today. But they aren't why I'm here.

On the fourth (playing as our back nine), I was planning on hitting my 7 iron next to the pin, having hit half a dozen good irons already during the round. Then, out of nowhere, I had a full-blooded 45degree and going further right shot, only stopped by the jungle. I didn't even bother looking for it. I dropped another ball and did hit 7 iron next to the pin (and missed it).

What's that? Chip shanks don't count?

No need to report my Day 1 18th - Day 2 1st double then.

    Thanks PAL!

Put my 2nd shot into the 2nd green side bunker on 17. Itsofacto, I decided to lay the club open and try get it out with the el hosel. Ended up over the back in the long crap. I walked away with a point at least

Shoulda tried to shank that one out of the tree too, might've gone further...

    Your welcome buddy.
Hope you were watching how I played it from the adjoining trap (no hosel) for a 2 foot tap in .

To be honest I liked it better when you were driving the bogey train

I could get long service leave I've driven that train so much this year .
One sure way to turn a good round into another ordinary one. Board the bogey train and drive it home.

I'm usually happy if I am on the bogey train, it could be worse!

I'm not absolutely sure that social round rockets need to be reported, but it was an Ozgolf Day, and the ball whizzed past Looney and Nudgee, who were tempting fate by observing from a position about 20m right and 20m forward of my shot on the 10th at The Grand today.

The situation was perfectly placed. Ball above my feet, a shot that needed to be hit hard and high to hopefully land soft on a green that was all carry for 120m uphill. So, a bit of a lunge when trying to give it a bit extra, and WHOOSHKA. Away she went.

It is my sad duty to report a special double incident today.

I was planning to hit my 52 degree from 85m next to the flag, but alas, only missed it by 30m. This left me a bump and run from a bad angle, but I couldn't find the clubface with that one either. Two in a row!! I picked up, even though I could've holed the next one for a point.

If the king of the backwards fade can own up, so can I.

Today, Darwin 18th hole (my 6th for the day). 3rd shot from 170 out, power shank off the 5i hosel to the 17th tee box (80m forwards, 35m right). 60deg over the trees, 60deg flop over the bunkers, sink the 15ft putt.

    6a2.

    Happy days.

Better check in for Saturday at The Grand 3rd hole I believe , pumped a decent drive down leaving 140m in, looked over at my mate playing in the group and SHANK! straight into a tree, I giggled and let him know I saw it. Looked down at my ball and instantly regretted it.. SHANK over the trees into long grass ball not found , head back lost ball and drop another. He made a 5 , I wiped the hole.

Moral of the story , don't laugh at others shanks until you don't have an iron in your hand.
