    Default How to identify fakes?

    http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/cranb...-rh/1003239630

    Interested in getting those, I called up Acushnet to ask if they can verify the serial number, but they said it normally comes with a "job number" instead. Not too sure if its the digits on the 6 iron or not.

    Anyone care to verify?

    Too hard to tell from that crappy picture.
    i have found that most fakeys have the wrong size lettering on the logo and the serial number isn't laser etched it's engraved.
    Eg;

    1st picture is Real The second is FAKE!

    I saw my first set a fake AP2s up close last week, local Golf World has them on display. They looked more like AP1s, they were real shovels. Lettering finish was pretty ordinary and obvious. Funniest part was that TUNGSTEN Ni in the cavity insert has become TUNGSTENNI. They also had some fake TM woods, but I struggled to pick anything obviously fake about them, so some are obviously much better copies than others.

    A $1000 set of latest release irons for $500. Please don't sell them here when you're done

    Not sure what Hocko has said is correct, Titleist engrave most of their serials.

    Yep, immediate alarm bells. Especially after "2.5 rounds"

    Fakes are usually perky and firm to the touch, the real ones feel real?

    Got some mp 58's off the bay a couple of weeks back starting to wonder if they are the real deal. For starters they don't have any serial numbers.

    Mizuno are a bit funny, they stamp serials for some markets but not for others. Most Mizunos on the Australian market don't have serials on the hosel, custom sets will have a build number on the ferrule and there is sometimes also a serial just under the grip but neither will be much use if they have been reshafted obviously.

    Blew off one of the grips and it did have some sort of serial on the shaft. The kbs shafts are a bit tatty the black nickel finish has worn off in some spots.
