Um..hello...and what just happened?
Hi everyone
I created an account today in another name, asked a question about a product others specifically said to come here to ask about, and I just found out that account was permanently banned, with no reason given.
I am a real live human being living in Western Australia, with a real actual question about a golfing product many of this forum's members use. I asked a legitimate question and am now baffled as to why I got banned. I was not advertising or selling anything in my first post, I was asking a question in the appropriate thread.
Can anyone shed any light on wtf just happened? Are your mods a bit trigger happy?
Thanks

You are probably the owner of the product you were promoting. Just a lucky guess.

I came from ISG Mark, I see you frequent both forums with the same username as I attempted to do (Mububban). I prefer your Malthouse avatar.
Just a hacker trying to get some info on something that might help me.

Welcome Shapelle.
Haven't you learnt to tell the others to do their own dirty work?
You don't get me. I'm part of the Union.

You should send a mod a PM or an email IAW forum rules.

I realise 300+ posts on another forum mean nothing on this one, but I'm trying to remain civil and just find out why someone gets perma-banned for asking a question. I understand no selling for X number of posts, I get that. But am I supposed to linger here for a few weeks to make 100+ posts before I'm allowed to ask a simple question?
And seeing as the official company rep frequents the thread I posted my question in, I'm not sure how any supposed seller of a product is going to outdo the company's own CEO who posts in person???

Thanks Andy, how do I find out who the mods are? I'd rather have my normal username so I don't have to remember a zillion different logins.
Edit - never mind, I just found the "Site Leaders" link. Nice forum code, I haven't seen that feature before.

Did TourFit tell you that he is a CEO?
Or was it a question about Vision golf balls?

... i deleted the account as your entire opening paragraph was highlighted as a link to a golf store.
Not the sort of opening post we approve of on the spot here i'm afraid.
Any idea how that might have happened ??

No, Tourfit mentioned he had one (of the unmentionable product) for sale second hand. I've been to see him in Balcatta before and don't live far from his office so it'd be an easy way to score one if he still had it.
Or was it a question about Vision golf balls?
No not Vision balls, I hear enough about them on ISG

What day is booby day then, I'll put it in my calendar.

Aha. Mystery somewhat solved.
I'm using a Mac. I normally compose forum replies in a text editor so I don't accidentally post a half finished reply. I normally use Notepad on Windows which is plain text. Mac has a program called Text Edit which retains formatting. However I've never used a forum before that retains HTML coding in the "reply" box. So when I copied and pasted from Text Edit into the reply box and hit the post button I had no idea it would retain the link coding, I thought it would treat it as plain text and strip out the link. One more reason I prefer Notepad to Text Edit, but work gave me a Mac so meh.
Apparently the coding on this forum is different to every other forum I frequent.

PMing mods doesn't seem to get responses, especially the trigger happy one.

i'm guessing the offending product is the "curved wooden self returning device" putting mat?

The Boom? That thread got annoying with the constant link posting.

Nope. I dare not say lest I incur further wrath I'd rather just get this sorted out if possible.
