Oxley might open up to walkers on Friday, but it'll probably close again if the predicted rain across the weekend happens. Might have to go have a hit at one of those indoor places instead.

Reddy Bay was still very wet yesterday. And it is raining again now. I suspect that tomorrow's Black Marker might be a non event (it will likely be Tee Up and No Carts).

Same. I'm gonna head there if the course is closed again.

I’ve been there, had the private room for an hour’s bash around some random course.

I don’t know about the bays outside because I didn’t pay attention but a nice feature of the room is the hitting surface changes angle to reflect the lie on the course. Uphill, downhill, ball below your feet etc.

It looks like that’ll be my only option this weekend too if I want a hit.

Changing angle is new sounds like it would feel more like real golf. I like using sims until it comes to the putting part

Is Carbrook open? Brisbane Vets are supposed to be playing there on Monday, but I would think it will be another cancel for us.

They’ll decide tomorrow about the weekend.

The Logan river spilled over again last weekend. Nowhere near as bad as last time obviously but the rain wasn’t needed anywhere else in the course either.

Brookwater still closed, but those club champs were earlier in the year.

Sandy Gallop still closed, but pushed club champs back to September a while back, before this round of flooding.

Wolston Park has moved club champs from what is usually a mid year four consecutive Saturdays to four consecutive weekend days (Sat/Sun/Sat/Sun) in late Feb / early March. The matchplay qualifiers which were the last two days in club champs previously, is now the final Saturday of the club champs (Rd 3) in early March, and the other round in early April. The change of the Club Champs timing is because this is when the course is in its best condition apparently, although this is the time of year that Brisbane flooded in 2022, so we'll see. I'll probably play the first two rounds really well, so I can comtemplate what could have been while playing Vic OZgolf Champs.

I've always argued that club champs should just be over two consecutive weekends, but old coots seem to always argue otherwise. Apparently playing two days in a row is too much?
    Forum needs more banter.

4 Saturdays in a row is more difficult for most people I think. 2 weekends would be great.

Some people might be strictly Saturday golfers, due to other Sunday engagements, but I don't have an issue with it being done over two weeks.

The progressive Clubs are doing Sat - Sat/Sun - Sat with the final day being only top 8 for each grade, with the men and women finishing on the same day. Those who didn't qualify play earlier, and then stick around to watch the leaders finish with presentations afterwards.

I don’t really have any interest this year in our champs, probably not the correct mind set but having dropped to 11ga with a daily of 10 come champ time I’ll be in A grade (10 and under). I have zero chance of even getting close over 4 rounds.

That seems entirely too sensible for a golf club.

I just try to beat my previous years' scores; there's only a few who can realistically win.

Thats a fair point, as is those golfers who only like to play with their mates. Those people can still do that, and then on the flipside there are those who want to enjoy the only serious golf tournament for the year.

A clubs premium event of the year should not be like every other saturday.

How is that progressive, more like regressive hahaha. Thats how club championships were played for the better part of a century. Now that golfers are soft and clubs sold out their sundays to the riff raff, hardly anywhere seems to run Champs properly now.

Ours are across February on each Saturday. The first year or two I was a member they were in October or November I think, then it switched to February so there were two champs within a few months.

I have no illusions of winning it, as I'll probably be on the high end of the A grade handicap range, but I'd be happy to just play well over the four rounds. The last two times I've chopped it up pretty badly. Perhaps partly due to groups in front pretending they're on the PGA tour for four weeks and taking ****ing forever to play.
