    GL tomorrow Steve!

Our qualifier (sat/sun stroke) was last week, with the top 8 from each grade going through to matchplay.
Quarter/Semi finals this sunday 18 holes each, then the final next sunday 36 holes.

Do they have ASADA lined up for duty at Pine Rivers? They might get some business.
    Forum needs more banter.

Just wondering when everyone has club champs and how they are run either over 4 weekends or two weekends.

Pine Rivers is starting this weekend over 4 Saturdays and then top 8 play matchplay! In the past we had them later in the year but they have been bought forward this year.

    So anoyone preparing for champs?
Ours, last two sat/sundays of May, top 8 gross in each grade qualify for Matchplay.

Club Championships are in two sections April and May is Handicap Champs. Two qualifying rounds and best 16 players go through to matchplay knock out rounds. Club Champs for A,B,C grade begin with 2 x qualifying, best round of the two gets the top 8 into matchplay offs. Goes from August to September when all grades, men and women play on the same day.

It's amazing how full the field gets when the club champs are on. There are only four spots free in the whole field for the first round of four this Saturday at the moment, and a normal comp would probably have 50 free. My mate just pulled the pin on playing, as the rain just isn't stopping at the moment; maybe they will postpone, if it keeps going.

I had a look through the field and there are 25 people with a lower handicap than me, so my goal of finishing top 16 in the gross may be a little ambitious. The matchplay champs qualifying is the last two rounds of the four stroke champs rounds, so a goal is to qualify for that too, which is also the top 16 for A grade (top 8 for B and C).

Huge numbers will pull out, so dont worry about being too ambitious. Aim for top 8!

True, there is a big fall off between rounds 1 to 4.

Even after round 1. Was the same at Boomerang, all sorts used to come out of the woodwork and then disappear after a crap 1st round.

I'd expect that around my handicap level (8), but I'd be surprised if those under and around scratch don't play all rounds. There are 8 players at 3 and under.

McLeod is closed today. Do they really want to play a Champs round with preferred lies and casual water in plenty of spots.

Our champs started last Saturday, the club has already said the course will closed Friday, Sat and Sun (already been closed Wed/Thurs) and the second rnd of the champs has been cancelled, making it now a 54 hole event with rnd 3 and 4 Sat 21st and 28th.

Oxley is closed today too and probably will be over the weekend as well. It's not club champs this week though. I sneaked into the Sunday comp but I'm expecting it'll be cancelled.

I was on my way to the course for a pre-Champs practice round when the email popped up on the phone. I still went, and the course is soooo boggy, and I played the drier nine apparently (back nine excluding 12th). It's a pain in the bum looking for your ball either after a half decent drive, or plugged around the green. It would have been a super slow day with the full field and the conditions. It's tee up through the greens too.

It's disappointing, as I was gearing myself up for the next four weeks, as rather than playing weekly comps, I'm targeting specific comps/events. Ah well, I'm still not hitting it that well anyway.

You were lucky to be playing at all. Still a few courses closed and will be a for a while yet. Reddy Bay was Preferred Lies today, but they still aren't letting Motorised Carts on.

It probably should be closed, but I doubt that our club can afford to close.
