read post 27. The thing is I posted two swings with beige shirts and somehow you thought I was referring the blue shirt swing. Not only am I concerned that you are dyslexic, I think you are also colourblind.

Yeah, I know what you think.

But as I said, I did the same thing as you, I downloaded both YouTube vids and looked at impact.

I was just busy doing accounting so i grabbed the screen shot that Sci did with the good impact position and posted that this was the one I liked,

Either I have the vids around the wrong way or my Mac has the vids off the forum around the wrong way.

You know my method, I look at impact and work back from that... Always have.

    Virge, just read post 27.

On post 11, Scifi posted 2 youtube clips of himself, BOTH with beige shirts. First one good and second one not good. These were the swings I was talking about.

He then, on the same post, posted stills of his swing in post 1 (blue shirt) and his first swing in post 11 (beige shirt).

Clearly in post 29, I was comparing the 2 youtube video files on post 11 (ie beige vs beige) and then you jump in thinking I was looking at the stills (blue vs beige).

On post 27, Scifi asks you to compare his two youtube files on post 11, not the stills.

Now, before you reply, really look at the posts that I asked you to first.

When I first started playing golf, I was taught how to move my body first. I had no idea what my hands and clubhead were doing. Always been a fuzzy area for me.

The hands dont do anything... they just hold onto the club and momentum does most of the work. There only real job is to hold the club with a bit of lag-angle and keep the club as far away from you as possible.

As I said, the problem is you all want your hands to square the club up and steer it... it just doesn;t happen that way.

    BUT . . .

You can also teach by "educating the hands" as you say . . . but then you are still going to have balance and hooking issues, because you not quite sure if your weight should be over the ball or behind the ball. To be honest - all you have to do is look at your Avatar... absolutley perfect !

Yeah, I want my hands out of it. I play better when the body is in sync and I'm not aware of my hands.

So there you go... Horses for Courses. Jono benefited from educated hands, you are more of a Pivot kind of guy.

You both usually end of with the same kind of swing, but the feelings can be very different.

Thanks everyone, really appreciate the input. I think I should be wear a red shirt in the next one.

Amongst the confusion the messages i have taken away are that i have a soggy right side, a massive hip slide with no rotation and a big flip evidenced by the club head pointing at the sky after impact. Ive been working on more of a turn than a slide and better connection with the ground through quieter legs. My front on video still looks pretty much the same as the first vid in post 11, I have been mainly taking video from down range to better see what my hips are doing. Sorry about the quality... my camera is dying

It also shows what the club face is doing after impact. Virge, i will take some DTL video tomorrow and post it, in the meantime does this tell you whether i am still flipping? Im not sure whether this club face is pointing at the sky or square to the plane.

Thanks Virge, good drill, was playing a bit of pennant so decided to stop tinkering, back at it now. Have whacked a few hundred balls off one leg, hope its going in the right direction. Any tips for better extension...or is it as simple as "get more lag"? Also is holding the angle by pushing the butt a little with the left palm/arm during the top half of the down swing a bad thing?

Anti left experiment, sick of the pull hook that can be absent for several rounds then make a sudden unwelcome appearance and spoil the day.

Flightscope shows about 2* out to in and a square club face.

Down side is not much lag, produces short little cuts, but not much to go wrong, just aim at the left third and putt from the middle or right...at least that's the theory!

The club head seams to go to the outside of the ball on your takeaway which wouldn't help with pull hooks, when I do this thats the result I end up with. shouldn't be able to see the ball on the inside of the club head from that camera angle.

I usually swing from the inside and the pull hook occurs when the swing comes from the inside with a closed face. Ball starts left and curves further left. Coming from the outside makes the ball curve right and my brain/hands want to open the face because of the path (instead of closing it when im coming from the inside). I've been swinging up and down the plane and a little out to in for three of four rounds, with no shallowing of the shaft to bring the swing inside and not much lag, and have been hitting consistent little cuts. Its a bit boring. Other parts of my game have gone to shite so hard to tell if its helping me score. About to play 5 days of golf up the Murray, cant see it lasting.

    Looks ugly Sci.☺

Perhaps you're concept of the golf swing is the problem. IMO , I can't see how anybody including golf teachers can understand the golf swing without an intimate knowledge of how a co-ordinated body works and how it needs to work in a powerful golf swing without risk of injury.

It beats me how anybody can learn the true action by following classic golf instruction. Most of it is BS and just plain dangerous. Not to mention a complete waste of time and effort. Been there, done that.

The true golf swing is powered through the tissue connecting the spine and pelvis so that the power of the swing moves from within to without. Once the player grasps the concept and learns how to use the body in this manner, the swing feels effortless and becomes quite a pleasurable experience.

Players who learn golf as children swing this way due to limited strength in their arms and wrist to move the club around their body. It is no coincidence that most pro golfers and elite amateurs started the game as children and learnt this way. They probably can't articulate how they do what they do, it just happens mechanically having performed the same actions tens of thousands of times.
Consciousness and awareness - awareness is being aware of what is happening and being aware of what is happening within ourselves while we are conscious. Where did I leave my glasses?

Ray, i think my concept is wrong. I have been looking at DTL video of 22YOJS concentrating on his back leg/foot and how his hips move. I think my legs are passive and my upper body turns my lower body. I figure my right heel being off the ground at impact means i am not pushing the rotation through my right leg and my hips being only slightly open at impact means nothing is really driving the rotation.

I had a crack at swinging from the ground up. Its really ugly but the ball is fizzing. Plane is way out for now but I think I am on the right track? Any tips on what I should be feeling?
