    Default Eskys

Need to get myself a new one. 60-70 litres. Want something good quality that will keep ice for a few days and last. Anyone bought one recently? Hit me up with some brands and feedback. Much appreciated. Love. Jack.

These are pretty good, reasonable prices and down your way:

Something in the classic or hybrid range should do.

Is the plural of esky, eskys or eskies?
    Forum needs more banter.

I'll vouch for the techni ice ice boxes. I have two of them which we use for camping (no homo) and for the price, I reckon they're the ducks nuts!

I've got techni-ice eskys too. Good product. I bought a 100+40+19 litre combo pack on ebay and it came with a bunch of techni-ice sheets. They work well. I cut a couple up into lunchbox sizes and use them every day for the kids' lunches.

Having said that, I hope to get a 12 volt compressor fridge this year for extended camping trips.

Jack, I have a techni ice and a couple of others. The bog brands work well over long periods, but the home brand big w one @ about $148 ( often on sale for $9 is pretty good value IMO. Had it for ages, still in good knick, good hinges, and proper latches, not elastic tie downs. Easily better than my techni ice one, in finish and ice keeping ability.

Tropical Ice Boxes. Made for the QLD heat.
I've got an 85L and kept ice, ice for a week.... in QLD.
They have a basic range too, far cheaper, but their big orange boxes are the cats pyjamas!

I've got a Kookaburra ice box. Latch system isn't great, but they're easily replaced. Filled it prior to my wedding, kept topping it up with ice when required, on day 5 I had frozen stubbies.
Got some Techni ice boxes at work. Walls don't seem to be as thick as my Kookaburra box.

Fwiw. The techni-ice sheet things do not live up to their claims, my company has tested these under controlled conditions and they are not as good as plain old ice for lasting the distance. Have no doubt that they are ok for kids luncboxes though

Checkout www.aussiedownunder.com.au I dropped in there yesterday and the young guy that owns it showed me his range of Eskies....they claim the Polar Cooler Eskie will keep ice for 72 hours, they are pretty ruggard from what I could tell and he had sizes from 36l up to big buggers.....and they are cheap!

I have a big fibreglass number we got as a wedding present, it's the ducks nuts and keeps ICE as ICE for about 4 days on a camping trip.

Thats unless of course the kids decide to leave the f#cking lid open.

Seriously , 72 hours is not special at all( and that would have to be sealed the whole time) my company has plain foam disposable eskies full of ice, and they maintain 0 degrees for 78 hours.I imagine all eskies could achieve such results provided the seal well enough.
