    Default 2012 Ozgolf Victorian Matchplay

    2012 Vic Ozgolf Matchplay
    Detail
Annual Ozgolf Matchplay event for the Mexicans. After closing date for interest, Bruce and myself will draw 1st round matches out of the hat. Matches will then be posted here. Round 1 will have a cut off date of. (more than likely end of May, due to the lateness of the draw). Round 2 will consist of all round 1 match winners (if odd number of entries some players may get auto entry to second round i.e. last years winner. Round 2 will have a cut off date of (more than likely end of June). Round 3 will consist of all round 2 match winners (if odd number of entries lucky losers get auto entry to third round) Round 3 will have a cut off date of (more than likely end of September). All subsequent rounds will be determined after final numbers have been confirmed. Format is handicapped matchplay i.e. one player has a handicap of 18 and the opponent has a handicap of 15 then the 18 h'caper will get a shot on the 3 hardest holes. It is advisable to organise golf days in an attempt to get multiple matches completed on the one day, also those new Ozgolf members can get to know other Victorian golfers, (all Interstate Ozgolfers are most welcome to play in these days if they are in town)It is the reponsibility of both players of a match to coordinate the playing of said match. Those players that do not have an official handicap are welcome to play, a handicap must be nominated by them prior to teh match in line with their ability. If a hustler is found within the ranks, I reserve the right to do something REALLY REALLY REALLY humiliating to them.

All Victorian Ozgolfers, who nominate for the annual Matchplay event do so with the understanding that they commit to jointly organise and complete a match with the drawn opponent within the allocated timeframe. If you believe that your commitments, outside of Ozgolf, will not allow the required opportunity to play the match please do not nominate in the first place. If a competitor can show evidence where they have attempted to organise a match, on mulitple occasions, at a perceived convenient time with their opponent without success, the match committee reserves the right to award the match (by walkover) to the competitor that has attempted to organise the match. This is an attempt to get this thing run and won annually. Anything not clear let me know.

I have had a couple of queries from those that missed the initial entry closing FG. I'll consult with Bruce and come back with a suitable ruling

I forgot to post the result of my match with Lefty from last week. Lefty was a comfortable 2/1 winner after leading most of the way. Well done Lefty and good luck in the next round, especially if you draw the old woman (do not under any circumstances play her at St Andrews Beach!!)

Nothing comfortable about it! Both played some great golf (IMHO at least) and both holed some great pressure putts down the stretch.

ParkRoyal (Steve) won our match today 5 & 3.

It was not close all day, Steve was extremely solid off the tee all day and was under little to no pressure for the whole round.

I had a very poor day off the tee and carried a cold putter all day. Taking nothing away from Steve, he was far too good for me.

Thanks to Chappy and Andi for a very enjoyable round around a super course. I think i rode my luck a few times, but struck the ball ok. Andi was incredibly stiff on not having a few putts drop.

Shot of the day though must go to Andy on the 11th though, using every bit of his course knowledge to knock is iron to 2 meters and an easy birdie.

    Again thanks for hosting Andy.

I wondered if that shot would get a mention

I hit a good drive to 120 out, took an 8 iron to make sure I flew the greenside bunkers and to get to a back pin. The ball never got off the deck, I hit it so thin that it rolled 80 metres to the bunker, went straight through and bounced up onto the green where it nestled happily 6 foot from the pin. As I told the boys you only write down the score

Excellent day out, learned some new swears from Chappy and met a good bloke (Tigers man ) in Steve. We'll have to saddle up again.

So only Bruce v Kev and Johnny Boy v Rodders to go in the first round.

You talking about Spring Valley mint? (Are you going still, can't be arsed finding the thread)

I'd like it if that could be a round 2 match considering I don't get to the big smoke all that often.

I think of the 8 of us playing that day there are 4 or 5 match play participants so it doesn't necessarily have to be me and mint. Just letting you know...

Well, I've drifted from 1.5 to 3.2 in the last six or so months so my golf ain't exactly sparkling at the moment either!

At least I won't have to give someone 50 shots (or is that just what it feels like when we play the longer markers???)
