    Default 2012 Ozgolf Victorian Matchplay

    2012 Vic Ozgolf Matchplay
    Detail
Annual Ozgolf Matchplay event for the Mexicans. After closing date for interest, Bruce and myself will draw 1st round matches out of the hat. Matches will then be posted here. Round 1 will have a cut off date of. (more than likely end of May, due to the lateness of the draw). Round 2 will consist of all round 1 match winners (if odd number of entries some players may get auto entry to second round i.e. last years winner. Round 2 will have a cut off date of (more than likely end of June). Round 3 will consist of all round 2 match winners (if odd number of entries lucky losers get auto entry to third round) Round 3 will have a cut off date of (more than likely end of September). All subsequent rounds will be determined after final numbers have been confirmed. Format is handicapped matchplay i.e. one player has a handicap of 18 and the opponent has a handicap of 15 then the 18 h'caper will get a shot on the 3 hardest holes. It is advisable to organise golf days in an attempt to get multiple matches completed on the one day, also those new Ozgolf members can get to know other Victorian golfers, (all Interstate Ozgolfers are most welcome to play in these days if they are in town)It is the reponsibility of both players of a match to coordinate the playing of said match. Those players that do not have an official handicap are welcome to play, a handicap must be nominated by them prior to teh match in line with their ability. If a hustler is found within the ranks, I reserve the right to do something REALLY REALLY REALLY humiliating to them.

All Victorian Ozgolfers, who nominate for the annual Matchplay event do so with the understanding that they commit to jointly organise and complete a match with the drawn opponent within the allocated timeframe. If you believe that your commitments, outside of Ozgolf, will not allow the required opportunity to play the match please do not nominate in the first place. If a competitor can show evidence where they have attempted to organise a match, on mulitple occasions, at a perceived convenient time with their opponent without success, the match committee reserves the right to award the match (by walkover) to the competitor that has attempted to organise the match. This is an attempt to get this thing run and won annually. Anything not clear let me know.

I'm off 18 so you can give me 4 shots please Just came in a shot over the weekend actually (that was silly of me). Do you know if St Andrews Beach has a matchplay index on the card or are we just going to use the standard matchplay index?

Yes I do, and my mate (and most likely Kev) is going to remind me about it every 15 minutes.

From what I hear I am going to need those 4 shots and then some though.

With the weather that is forecast, I am more afraid that my wedge shots are going to land behind me when hitting into the wind.

Blustery conditions at St Andrews Beach today but hardly any rain. I think the conditions suited me better than Brad. Also the difference between the blue tees and the reds were in my favour - just a lot!! I was four up at the turn due to making fewer mistakes and a bit of luck. The 140 meter head start on the 13th was too much for Brad and it was game, set and match to the skirt. 6/5
Thanks Brad for a great game played in true Ozgolf spirit. The first time he has played in an Ozgolf game and hopefully not the last.
Lovely to have Kev with us - he played some great shots - great upside down back to from left handed chip was pretty awesome!! And nice to meet Brad's mate Marcus.

Kev and I commented that we really have to have a Vic Ozgolf day with as many of us there that can make it. I'm happy to organise it but I only know the courses down the peninsula way. Does anyone know a course that is pretty central that we all can get on ok - or are you guys happy to travel? Be nice to get together in the next month or so - maybe play some of the second round matches then? Any thoughts???

Happy to host at Spring Valley if that works.

Told you that you were a dead man walking BGH. Glad you went through the motions though.

Still not playing enough GolfLink | Slightly less terrible stats brought to you by Golfshot - F: 57%, GIR: 23%, UD: 14%, P: 34. Wow, improvement! | Nickent brand ho or tightarse? You be the judge!

You have no idea how true this is. I never even looked like being in the game. FG had my measure on hole one and never game me a sniff.

In hind-sight, the course/conditions couldn't have been worse for me. My game is bad enough on a still, sunny day. Playing a difficult links course that I had no clue about in a gale was a recipe for disaster. Playing from the back pegs in that wind, most of the time I was just happy for my tee shot to make it to the ladies markers (which sometimes it didn't).

Oh btw FG + Kev. Sorry for bailing early, that was quite rude of us. But our other-half's were killing time after their day spa treatments and sending pushy SMSs because they wanted to come pick us up so that we could head to the wineries.... Plus I needed a couple of bottles of red to drown my sorrows.

I love that course though, simply stunning. Will get back there ASAP to play another round and see what the final five holes are like

    No problems at all.

I almost let you win after you were so sweet to me.
Me - "Ive been married 36 years"
You - " Boy you must have been young when you got married"

Nearly threw the game there and then - but not quite!!!

For the record I played the last five holes pretty good - just missed the birdie on the 18th.

The trouble with these wins against you boys is that you are all going to try so hard to get my scalp. Looks like I'm going to have to start trying!!!

    Well played FG!

I think the OzGolf Vic Open is a great idea!
