Default NSW MatchPlay Jimandr v Spiersy11

There was a low key build up to this match, which was just as well, because it was a very low quality match at Macarthur Grange this morning.

The Result: Jimandr defeated Spiersy11 5 and 4.

I didn't play very well, but Rob played the worst round he is ever likely to play. I gather Rob's preparation wasn't perfect, but he can expand upon that if he wishes. I do know he was going home to get some sleep before he even contemplated having a look at the web.

We halved the first in bogeys after I three putted, I won the 2nd after he three putted, I won the 3rd after he had at least 4 putts. I won the fourth after I took three to get down from just off the green, and he took at least 4 from a similar spot. He won the 5th after I took three to get on the green from a bunker.

The game was there for the taking for the first player to start playing decent golf. From that point I played Ok, which turned out to be good enough.

If we have a rematch sometime on a course more suitable to both our games, I dare say the result may well be reversed.

Nah, I got beat, plain and simple.......Good win Jim, play well next round....

And for the record, I only 3 putted the 4th......my second strike with the putter was from off the green

I'll post a full recap after this hangover goes away.....Likely next Thursday or so......

    Good win Jim!

Bad luck Rob - I suppose you can't be on fire every day (Note to self - if I ever have to play rob in the matchplay, make sure he has a big night out beforehand! )

Thats a good theory but doesnt always work.

My old man got beaten 9/8 once in a club championship matchplay. It was his opponents 21st birthday party the night before, but dad was so drunk he didnt notice that the birthday boy went to bed early - very early.

The next round will be the NSW final IF I have an opponent to play.

3oneday and Virgal Tracy: the clock is ticking away. You should be looking forward to getting your game done so you can meet the weaker of the two possible opponents in the final.

Intimidation is not one of my stronger points

Congrats, Jim. I go away for two weeks and miss the biggest Ozgolf upset thus far ...

Actually, Jim's a solid matchplay opponent, who always shoots somewhere near his hanicap (except the time I played him at Riverside Oaks ... ). Don't listen to this "I'm the underdog" stuff from Jim ...

Bad luck Rob. Sounds like you had a shocker of a day. I gather my TM lobwedge didn't really work for you? PM me re: the wedge.

I don't have enough confidence in my ability to back up idle boasts.

I'll try a subtle one though

It's funny how all the sledgers will be looking on when the final is eventually played :P

As another aside, I may need to seek out practice matchplay partners to keep my eye in while waiting for an opponent to appear. How was that Sunday invitation at Gordon looking

Congrats on being the first OZgolfer through to the matchplay finals, Jim.

Your lack of confidence is a concern though......but I guess it has got you this far.
