I hope I get to play #1 again I guess atleast then I can watch 2 tee off before me and see landing zones.. Screwed me hard out playing #2 at Gainsborough on the weekend teeing off first and not really knowing that I could drive through the fairway.

Oh I forgot. The first you need to hit a massive high Slice Otherwise you are in the Boonda. If the prevailing wind is blowing right to left you are screwed though. If you overdo the slice, there is no trouble at all. But you can see where it goes as I said only hit it to where you can see.

I could get gcg to caddy for you he plays the river 2-3 times a week, and he can show you the best grass to hit from on the practice fairway

GCG asked me to pass these snippets of tactful play onto those who venture to the river. Firstly completely disregard MTBs comment on hitting a slice on the first, why would you want to do that hit a slice that is?? seriously? your asking for 6+ if you do that. *****1st hit a 2-3-4 iron down the centre, then hit a 6 iron to be 100m out from the green, hit wedge on, DO NOT go in the bunkers left of green, short is better than long.******* 2ND, 4 iron aim at the big tree with the large red flowers on it, wedge to green,***********3rd par 3 just hit the green, ****4th something left of the fairway bunker if you can hit a driver 230m on the fly down the middle that's the club, *****5th is sucker hole 4 iron down middle short of bunkers, 7 iron in. *****6th 3 wood short of bunkers, then ain 3 wood at the green pumping station behind water, then 9 iron onto green, ****7th take 1 club more than you think, front bunker catches lots of balls, *****8th do not go right or long, 3 wood lust over left edge of fairway bunker, 5 iron in do not go right on your approach shot cause your DED if you do, 1 club short of green is s mart play with a chip close for 3 is a safe play.*****9 do not go left, water off the tee on right is in play if your long front bunker is about 20m short of green, ***10th must hit the green do not go in sand, **** 11th 3 wood over the edge of the trees on the left don't take it on just go down centre or left centre do no go in the bunkers off the tee. ***** 12th 3 wood straight down the middle do not try and take on the dog leg you gain nothing then its an easy 8-9-W in easy hole, *****13th hit your straightest club off the tee, you must not be left on the green and right isn't much better I play to the front fringe rather than try and hit the green then you just chip and putt for par, ******14th hit something at the big grey gumtree, then lay up with 4iron than a 30m chip on must be right side of fairway for chip on, *****15th something down middle left of fairway trap long iron in about 180m ish easy 4 iron. *****16th must be left side of fairway off the tee with a 6-7 iron in tough shot in if pin back right DO NOT go in the front bunker,******17th don't be short or long****** 18th driver down the middle 6 iron to 100m wedge in do not go for the green in 2 you wont hit it and are asking for nothing but trouble.*****************If you do this you will shoot sub 80?????? His offer to caddy is still availible

Because it is a significant dogleg right, if you do not do that, you finish in the boonda. Seriously.

your asking for 6+ if you do that.
No you are not, because there is no trouble inside the dogleg, All the trouble is on the outside. If you overcook the slice you are on the 9th fairway with only one insignificant tree to hit over.

*****1st hit a 2-3-4 iron down the centre,
That is not a very intelligent strategy, because that brings the water short - right very much into play. If hitting driver the water is easily cleared.

5th is sucker hole 4 iron down middle short of bunkers, 7 iron in. *****
So you reckon on the 1st you can hit a 2-3-4 iron plus 6 iron 360m, yet on the 5th you reckon its 4 iron plus 7 iron to go 280m?
I think you need to get your loft or head checked.

If you do this you will shoot sub 80??????
probably better for golfers who want to break 80 to get advice from someone who actually knows how to play golf.

Is handicap a simple enough way to determine if someone can actually play golf or not?

You are dealing with Australia's number 1 driving range expect guys so take it easy. Darren I mean GCG or this week bogeyville is a great player I think he plays off 10 or 11 so he would be in the top 2 or 3 players on this site. Mtb you should not question his strategy as he is a top class player and is just trying to help those who are lesser players on the site.

Doesn't take much to be called a great player these days (10-11 handicap?)
I will play him any time he wants off the stick....and there are at least 8 to 10 guys here who would kick my arse!
Good on his day round his home course maybe.

Sorry guys but I find the lack of respect for GCG very poor form. If his stories are true he is far better than you Pete and would be happy to take up your challenge on his home driving range any time you want.
