It doesn't look good so I'm just going to play Jaybam tomorrow to cover the bases, if Maz still wants a run then he can play the winner.

I remember going to the skate ring on a double date when I was 16yrs and could not skate to save myself. My mate got the shits with trying to help me on the carpet area and pushed me out on to the track. It was free skating and for some reason a pack of little kids decided to make my experience far from pleasant. Was getting really hot headed about it but was really incapacitated by my serious lack of ability to move. They made the call to clear the track for the fast skate and everyone left the ring and I was stuck out by myself. Tried to get off but after stacking it twice sat down and started to unlace the boots. Everyone was staring at me and my mate laughed so hard that he actually pissed his pants. He was wearing a light brown pair of flared cords and had no way of hiding what happened and took off through the emergency exit. He had triggered of the alarm and there was mild chaos. My mate did not return and I was left with the two girls who were not to keen to hang out with spaz on wheels.

Jaybam defeated Ferrins 6 & 4 at Wynnum so he needs to play Maza or he is through to the semi finals. Thanks for the games and good luck to the remaining participants.

Shavey (12) vs Vegas (6) today at Windaroo Lakes with timah! as match refereree.

It was a ding dong battle of the heavyweights. Thanks for the game shavey, it was good to have a game with you, it's been too long. We both played pretty well, with only minor rustiness at times. In the end I was lucky enough to get away with the win, 2&1. My recap follows.

After getting to the course nice and early to hit some chips and putts, it soon becomes apparent that shavey (SS) is "on fire" with the greenside chipping. He proceeds to hole out a bunch of times and generally put on a bit of a clinic for me and timah. Meanwhile, I'm chilly-dipping and flumbing my attempts and resolve to hit lots of greens in reg so I don't have to chip. So, we proceed to the first tee. SS with a spring in his step. BV looking a bit pale.

    1. par 5, OOB right. BV drive down the middle, SS bombs a high draw into the left trees. BV punches a 4 iron safely down the middle to 150 out. SS extricates himself to around 180m out. SS hooks his approach into the front left trap. BV slots a nice little 6 iron in below the hole. SS does a Hitler in the bunker and BV's 2 putt par is good for the win. BV 1 up.

    2. long par 4, dogleg right. BV thinks this game is easy and aims down the left for a power fade. Things go awry and he hits it into the sightscreen adjacent to the tee. After laughing a lot, SS steps up and hits a big hook into the left trees. I did point out before the game that his new 910 driver was set to "draw", but I digress. BV hits a one-handed chip out onto the fairway to be 250m+ out and hitting 3. BV fades a nice 3 wood around the corner to 50 out in the fairway. SS hits a nice punch out from under trees and off a root to a similar spot to BV. Both players hit ugly chip shots to be long (BV) and short left (SS), both putting. BV 2 putts for a 6. SS 3 putss for a half. BV stays 1up.

    3. par 5, water right, OOB left. BV slots a nice drive down the middle. SS hits a nice draw, but starts it far enough right to hold the fairway. BV has a lash at the par 5 green in 2 with 3 wood. It looks good off the bat, but is later found to be on a hard pan lie, short-sided next to the bunker. SS blocks his hybrid approach to a nice position 5 yards short and in the fairway. SS pitches to the green and makes a par. BV tries to play a clay bunker shot and comes close to pulling it off, but just catched the lip of the bunker. BV hits a nice sand bunker shot to 4 feet. BV misses the par save putt and loses the hole. All square.

    4. shortish par 4. SS has a shot. Both players hit solid 3 irons down the middle to 140-150 out. BV slots a 6 iron to 10 feet. SS hits his 7 iron a bit fat into the front bunker. SS blasts out to long range, but manages a 2 putt bogey. BV's birdie attempt misses, but taps in for par, to halve the hole.

    5. 160m par 3. BV hits a lovely 6 iron that looks "all over it", but it comes up half a club short, in line with the flag. SS hits a wicked shank, that curves around the brick and tile macmansion off to the right of the hole. Ball is OOB. SS reloads and hits the left edge of the green. SS makes a 5, bV 2 putts for par and wins the hole. BV 1 up.

    6. short par 4, water carry. BV puts driver on front right edge of green. SS bombs a high draw driver onto the green, but spins it back off to front fringe. Flag is back left. BV chips first and comes up just short of the ridge in the centre of the green. SS follows suit. BV makes a dogs breakfast of it from there and walks off with a bogey. SS wins the hole with a par. Back to all square

    7. par 3 over water. SS hits first and pull hooks it onto the 8th tee, 30 yards left of the green. He has an opening for a tricky bump and run back to the green. BV plays safe and hits the heart of the green. SS chips onto and through the green and recovers for a bogey. BV 2 putts for par and wins the hole. BV 1 up.

    8. par 4, water down the right, OOB left. SS pull hooks his drive into the trees, but it looks to be safe. BV hits one down the left side and it feeds back to the fairway. After a search, SS's ball is found just through the fence line OOB. BV is blocked out from the green, but gets it close and makes 5 for the win. BV 2 up.

    9. par 4, water down the right. SS smashes driver down to 20 yards off the green. BV hits a 3 iron down the middle, 100 out. BV hits his wedge just short into the GUR bunker, but close to the flag. SS hits a decent pitch, but is 20 feet from the pin. BV takes his drop from the bunker onto the front fringe. Both 2 putt for par. BV stays 2 up.

    10. par 4, tight. SS has a shot. SS flumb-hooks his drive not far off the tee into the left trees. BV hits it down the left side , playing for a fade, but draws it over the cotton tree. SS advances his down the fairway to a reasonable position. BV finds his ball in the left rough, but has a shot to the green over some tall trees. BV flubs the wedge attempt and then blades the next chip to be at the back of the green for 3. BV 3 putts from long range for 6. SS makes a similar mess of the hole to win it with a 6. BV 1 up.

    11. short par 3. SS hits a nice 9 iron to 15 feet. BV hits a decent 9 iron to 20 feet, opposite side of the holes. BV 2 putts for par. SS lips out the birdie and halves the hole. BV 1 up.

    12. par 5, water left. SS pull hooks driver into the hazard. BV hits driver down the middle. SS takes a drop at the point of entry and advances down the fairway. BV has a go at the green in two from 220 and comes up just short, but straight. SS pitches over the back of the green for 4. BV pitches from the front edge to a couple of feet. SS makes a nice up and down for 6, but BV taps in for birdie and the win. BV 2 up.

    13. par 5, water right. BV and SS both hit good drives. BV gets a bad lie, so lays up with a 4 iron, although he hits it pretty poorly and is 100 out on the cartpath. SS has a go at the green in two, but hits his hybrid a little fat and comes up 50 yards short in the fairway. BV takes a drop off the cart path and hits his wedge to the right edge of the green. SS, pitches to the green. BV's ball falls down a sprinkler drain, but is retrieved and played from just off the green for a 2-putt par. SS matches the par and the match remains at BV 2up.

    14. par 4, water right. SS lays up with a 4 iron. WTF!?!? BV (and timah) both let loose their egos and try to drive the green. BV hits a solid drive, that actually goes a little too far up the hill left of the green. SS hits a full 9? iron approach to the front of the green. BV gets to his ball to discover he has no shot. ie. tight lie, short-sided, above the hole etc etc... so elects to chip to the front of the green. BV briefly considers putting the ball to avoid blading it into the lake, much to SS's amusement. The cheeky prick was taking photos of BV's predicament. Both BV and SS make ugly 3 putts. Hole is halved with bogeys. BV 2 up.

    15. par 3 over water. SS hits a very nice iron shot to 10 feet below the hole. BV hits a decent iron shot to 15 feet above the hole. BV hits a wobbly first putt that comes up 3 foot short and marks his ball, spooked after missing a similar putt on the previous hole. SS's putt lips out and he taps in for par. BV makes the par save and it remains 2 up.

    16. par 4, double water carry. "snake gully". SS has a shot. BV takes the Tiger line over the water, but catches it off the heel and goes into the creek. SS aims waaay right for safety and finds the fairway, 170 ish out. BV takes a drop and gets a bad lie, which rules out the "hero" shot to the green with a hybrid. BV chooses to lay up with an 8 iron and somehow hits it 170m into the water. SS, obviously rattled by this, hits his approach into the water too, but he still has a couple of shots up his sleeve. Both players hit the wedges close from 80m and both miss the short putts. SS wins the hole. BV 1 up.

    17. par 4, dogleg right. SS hits a big 4 iron over the trees that draws back to the fairway, a little too far down into the rough. BV hits a little fade 4 iron to the middle, 150m out. BV hits first and puts his 6 iron pin high, just off the right of the green. SS from about 130, hits an ugly flub and comes up short of the greenside trap. From there, he hits a shank to the right of the green, still short. SS eventually gets to the green and makes a 6. BV hits his lag putt too hard on the slick green and misses the return putt for par. BV makes a bogey to win the hole though and close out the match 2 & 1.
