North course was full, as you could imagine, so we went over to the 1st at the South Course.

Measured 128m .. Goonie hit a gap wedge wide right into the trees. I hit 9 iron to 7 feet. Didnt have to putt.

It was a good game ... a lot of turning points, but when someone wins down 19, there is only one that matters.

The match was close and good fun, but the golf was pretty poor at times.

I was 1 down early, got to 2 up at half way, thanks to Marto getting a case of the pulls, let my lead slip away with some ordinary golf on the back nine. I kept flying greens with my new irons, and blew a few chances, and ended up 1 down with 2 to play. On 17 Marto hits one down the middle, I hit a crap drive into the drain on the right, I thought that was game over, my ball was in the drain and had mud all over it, the ball was on the slope on the far side of the drain and I was standing in the mud on the other side of the drain, I had 130m and had to avoid a close tree and hit over another big one, so I grabbed a PW and had a whack, the ball ended up about 6-7 feet, I don't know how and I didn't see it but it did , I then proceeded to stuff up the birdie putt but squared the hole, so off to 18. Marto pulled his tee shot long and left, now I had been long all day with my irons so I hit a nice smooth 8i which finished about 3-4 feet past the whole, Marto chipped and 2 putted for a 4 and I 2 putted for a 3, all square, off to the south course we go. 1st tee, about 120m down hill, I hit first and hit my second worst shot of the day and carve a GW high and right into the trees (the duff 4w on the first hole in front of everyone was the worst, it was apparently so bad no one was game to to say anything). Marto then hits a lovely 9i to 7 odd feet, now thinking I need chip in as Marto's putter has been pretty hot all day we start looking for my ball, unfortunately it caught the trees and I ended up in a house of mirrors, I had to try and hit a low wedge no more than 3m off the ground over a bunker and hold the green to have a chance, needless to say that didn't happen, so after hitting one of the many trees that surrounded me I called Marto back and conceded the hole.

shavey and I have compared our hectic social calendars and we've pencilled in Sat 23rd June for our match. Preferably somewhere cheap and neutral where we can get on early. Venue TBA...
