Default Grrrr - Just how important is setup - it drives me nuts ...

Setup is IMHO the most IMPORTANT part of the golf swing FFS !!!

Hitting it like a mongrel for the last three weeks ..... went back to basics - neutral grip, bend from the hips and stand closer to the ball !!!

FFS - with those corrections, absolutely flushing it again ... arrrrrggggghhhh !!!!

What say you dudes about setup ?

I'm trying to stop lookingdown the fairway once I have alignment. It is stuffing up my swing - pointing in one direction and aiming in another.

It doesn't take much to stuff things up. I'm not one to analyse my swing, but when things go wrong, I try to get all of the setup right.

Agreed, some pointers from Tourspat have me hitting the ball quite nicely atm. Setup is crucial according to this 16 capper.

I learned only a few months ago how important alignment of the shoulders at set up is. I had always done it with my feet and clubface, but apparently my shoulders were getting open. Since that tip from a scratch capper I play with I've had a great and extended run of good scoring.
If it wasn't for those damn putters......

The parallax error is very significant,, even more so if we are left eye dominant from memory. I always pick a spot to hit over about a metre in front of the ball and try to hit over it mot just for alignment. Otherwise it is way to easy for me to wander off to the right which make me compensate by hitting left.

I am just going through that too....having been standing more progressively closed for the last few weeks and hitting a draw but most often the bad shot is coming "around" and getting a week contact and left to right swing......I really have to start over again and get myself lined up STRAIGHT!
