Default The new 2011 WA Matchpaly Final Thread - JC vs MW

Due to the inability of Veeman and TourFit to even talk to each other in the thread, let alone arrange a game, it has been decided that the only fair thing to do is revert back to last years finalists to have another dash at it this year.

    Next Friday. Hartfield. 2:30.

    Who wants to watch?

    1. JC
    2. MW

Good to see the puttingis improving. I still have the odd 3-Jack which is still frustrating.

I've actually found that the ID special "use the force" is helping. Check the line, and make sure of it before stepping up to hte ball, and hitting it. Not standing over it forever going through the 300 other ways the ball could go. Just trusting that what you saw first was right.

FWIW, there was never a game played. JC and I chewed the fat and had 9 holes together. Rubin and Yoss never played. And as if we could ever justify having a final between last years finalists.

Hard to believe that people didn't see through this to the humorous side. I guess an honour bar just means too much to some people.

    Lighten up everyone. Seriously!
You really think I didn't see it...ask the two Vee's or idgg, they'll tell you that I KNEW you guys were just kidding around.

You really think that I wasn't just having a little fun in return?

BTW, if an honour bar meant so much to me, I'd be a fumbling wreck by now...having NEVER even gotten close before this. I'm not on this forum for honour bars...never have been, never will be.

That wasn't directed at you specifically, TourFit.

Now trying to 'use the force' with other clubs with varying degrees of success. Thinking about alignment, getting it wrong and trying to swing against it is what generally causes my bad scores.

It would be a much different story if it were chocolate bars.

Can the mods really give out chocolate bars...? WOW. AWESOME!

(My wife got one of the HUGE Toblerone's as a gift on the last day of school). Best end of year present she's EVER had!

Hallucinogens no doubt play a large part in the tantric, zen part.

The Jedi stuff is some serious shit though! What do you use the Jedi mind trick for...?

I don't actually active work out break before putting. I try to take the ball path as a whole and then let my passive mind take over. Think Tim Galwey, The Art of Tennis.

Didn't he do a golf book as well? I'm sure I had one by him years ago. He paid particular emphasis to the way people swing their 3 wood so much more fluidly and purposefully than they swing their drivers etc.

My favourite book on the mental side of golf was Zen Golf. Just the "anyways" which a few would have heard me talk about before two 3 shots off my handicap in 2 months at a time when I was stagnant and had played off the same handicap for 3 years.

We did have a good laugh about it.

I can understand the point of it though and if TF and veeman hadn't already had their match booked I'm sure it would have spurred them into action.

He did write a book on golf. The concepts the same. The guys who have seen me putt in the past know how brittle my confidence was. The new approach takes away the time investment which removes the intense analysis I use to apply.

The downside is I probably don't make as many birdies as I should. That is still in development and will work that out eventually.

    Bingo!

We did, however, discover that the 9064 with RIP Beta is an amazing combo on our little 9 hole romp!

So you've found the right shaft for that head now. What about that other 12 degree thing you had a few months ago with a stiff low launch shaft u reckoned u were bombing?

I have a Geek 12* with a high torque shaft. not a bomber but a great stick.

I've had success with several shafts in that head now. The Gamma, the Beta and the SAGA.

Before I set my alarm and call it a night, I was thinking how important it is to drive well at Hartfield - to carry the doglegs properly as a low capper (if that's the choice taken from the tee). At places like The Vines there are some doglegs but not forced boonge carrying ones. I can think of possibly 5 or 6 holes at Hartfield where if a low marker can't take advantage of getting a teeshot around a corner (which may involve a full carry) they could be giving as many as 4 shots back to the field.

Mega and I are played on Friday to determine a winner.

Fit beat Vman on Sunday for a Kit Kat.

    Good call Nuff. Keep pondering.

I carried a few doglegs but still played shit. What can my excuse be?
