The election is 17 months away. At this point the polls are really just 'who is the most famous'. Trump is a buffoon, but he's famous. He's about as much chance of being president as Palmer has of being PM.

Trump will be lucky to make the last 3 in the Republican race, let alone become President. He has nothing to lose, so is just taking fire at everything in the hope of building some sort of support base.

Fair enough. Stupidity isn't unique to America though. Plenty of Aussies vote for lunatics here too, like Palmer United, Katter Australia Party, One Nation, the Greens.....

I've got no problem with him.

If he's keeping all the drugs and rapists out of the country, what's not to like.

It's the crazy generalisations. Not all drug traffickers are rapists you know.

There are three child restraint anchor points across the back of the latest Falcon ute.

One behind the passenger seat (but the owner's manual says never to fit a child seat, etc. where there is an airbag), one in the middle (where there is no seat) and one behind the driver's seat.

I was thinking about using them to attach a carabiner or cargo net to hold the work bag, shopping bags, jacket, etc., but they warn also against using them to attach items other than child restraints to the vehicle.

Why do they even call them child restraints haha? Should just call them UMPs. Useless mounting points.

Isn't the back part of the ute for cargo and storage?

Actually, to be completely on topic, the popularity of utes perplexes me. The modern ute appears to be the new hoon vehicle rather than have any functional purpose as a carrier of cargo and the like. "Back in my day" hoons used to drive panel vans for the same reason. Maybe the modern ute driver has a mattress in the back.

Three anchor points across the back of the cabin, at shoulder (when seated) height. There's enough room behind the seats for a standbag. Access is a little awkward, esp. with a lever that needs to be pushed back, for the seat-back to go forward, making it a two-handed operation. (Ditto the fibreglass tonneau needing a button pushed down, whilst lifting the hard-cover.)

Last year, I carried passengers in the back seat only 5 times a year, but cargo about 50 times. Ideally, a Mondeo wagon would have been more versatile (even able to use loading zones), but this was a purchase of the heart, rather than the head.

ps. And loving the smooth six cylinder power around town, over the four cylinder diesel.

The Austrians that I work with can't figure out the point of a ute.

Tell them that they are just like a Merc SLK or BMW Z4.

But with enough room to carry two sets of golf clubs and no risk of skin cancer.

How 60% + of drivers ever got a License in the first place! It certainly wasn't through them giving a fig about anyone else on the road, or even acknowledging their existence. The modern version of Little boxes on the hill side, is little bubbles, my Cocoon!
