Had a game today with a random army dude who was a bit on the loose cannon side of things. Conversation turned to fake cans and he then shows me a pic of his daughter.

    "She's 23, and I didn't pay for them".

    Facebook friend request sent.

    Forum needs more banter.

Yeah but that still only makes him the winning Cheat on the day(s). Giving him any credit for them would be a total taint on the event, its history and the genuine winners imo.

Watching Golf Getaway (yeah, I know it is shite! but they play some nice courses), and seeing them hit their shots into the bunda time after time, and then seeing them play their next shots from the middle of the fairway, or on the green! Yes I know, lots of shot have to be played just for the camera, but you are filming in HD guys, we can see the ball flight you know!!??

Look at the credits... the tall, skinny one is credited as writer/ producer/ director. I bet when he pitched the idea to potential sponsors he didn't mention that it would be hosted by two choppers.

I'm watching the golf and there's an advertisement for http://www.strongchoices.qld.gov.au. If they are going to advertise, wouldn't it be better to target Qlders rather than the rest of us who.......don't really care.

What's wrong with LNP/anti-Labor advertising using tax payer dollars?

Nothing really, since I'm sure Labor do the same thing.

Nothing wrong with it. All governments do it. Only issue is that they're doing it in an attempt to show popular support for asset sales. However the results of the survey have been released and asset sales are only the 54th most popular option. People overwhelmingly chose raising taxes on big business, which the government will never do. Cue the government saying it's not a poll or a real survey and the results are immaterial. Can't understand why the ads are still running if it's an entirely pointless exercise.

Ron, you've stolen my thunder but I'll comment anyway.

I saw the ad yesterday and immediately thought advertising on Fox must be very cheap.

I clicked on Perry's link, and it took me back to my recent working past. The NSW railway do something similar every time they are about to change the timetable. I had the enjoyable job of collating the public responses once.

Government organisations go through the pretence of public consultation to gain demonstrable support for things they intend to do, so they can justify their action by either saying 'we listened to the people' or 'we consulted first and not many people objected'.

I did wonder what the unstated agenda behind it was, and asset sales does make sense. It always perplexed me when you see governments promising extra spending and debt reduction at the same time. It either means a tax hike or asset sales. The old chestnut of eliminating waste and duplication and improving government service efficiency simply doesn't deliver the savings required (even if these things are necessary, and sometimes they are necessary).

I don't wish to make light of a stressful situation but here's the latest from the news feed about a siege down at Tugun. A father is holding his son as hostage.

HE father at the centre of a siege and hostage situation on the Gold Coast has made a list of demands. Neighbours say the 42-year-old man has demanded cigarettes, two bottles of coke and a pizza.
Heavily-armed SERT officers remain on scene trying to being a peaceful end to the standoff.

I'm not sure of the social media news things amplify all this trubly but it seems we have half a dozen nasty things happen every ****en day.
