    Only to came home and the missus had the SBS Royal Wedding special on TV... even when we were having dinner with our friends at the restaurant, she and mate's missus were watching it on their phone.... not a good way to spend Saturday...

    funny thing... she has been saying for weeks that she is not at all interested about this royal wedding crap thing.... even turned down a girls Royal Wedding gathering with her friends because it was "silly"

    I'll need to pretend to be flummoxed, because I don't "like" it, and I'm not pissed off by it, and we don't have a shocked and stunned thread.

    I just saw on my TV a Trivago ad without the Trivago Lady. Don't tell me she is on her way out!

    The new series of ads have been getting increasingly silly, but at least they had the lady and her endless variety of hairstyles. They don't even claim to provide the ideal hotel 'for the best price' any longer.

    Before it flooded. Some right of passage thing to scribble names on a wall in there. Then the water forced them deeper I guess.

    Yep. It's known to not go into them during the wet season, and they flood quick. Looking at the ups and downs of the route, I could see how a small section could get blocked off quick, even if just a small section, and they wouldn't have a clue how to get out.

    Through the cave entrance.

    It is suggested not to enter the cave system from July onwards, and they went in late-June so take from that what you will.

    Once they were in there, it started to rain heavily and the water started to rise and blocked their exit and they were forced to go much deeper and deeper into the mountain in order to escape the rising water into places I am sure they would have otherwise not have travelled.

    I reckon they have all been dropped from the side for missing training.

    Here is a lot of detail of how they got stranded, and how complex the rescue was;

    Most states are now part of the 'no plastic bags in supermarkets' era. That doesn't bemuse me. I agree with it to a large extent, but I would like to feel welcome as a customer, rather than feel like I am doing them a favour by visiting their store.

    But at the self-serve checkout of my local IGA today, the robot voice inside the unit was still demanding that we put our items in the bagging area, even though there are now no bags in the bagging area. I am looking forward to the time when the unidentified item in the bagging area is actually a bag you have brought with you.

    It's easy to get the "unidentified item in bagging area, please remove". I hear and see it all the time. What you have to do is scan your first item, them place out in the bag and put the bag down with the item in at the same time, then it's fine.

    Not the fact dr Phil is on in our house (it's kinda bemusing), but listening to a dad say his son is possessed by a demon, but that his ex wife believes it is his sons mental illness, and that she needs to wake up.....

    Club committees that do nothing but oil squeaky wheels, rather than address the core issues.

    When the new rating system came in, our course got rated at 71 vs par 72. Apparently this stuck in the craw of some, though I have never been able to find any members that seem to care. The then Course Director apparently took on his own back to extend/length some tees, though it made no difference to the rating. But it did manage to putt back tee positions in stupid positions (confirmed by the Course Master Planner when they got him to look at it later on).

    Then they (the Board) got the idea to extend our 12th hole by some 40 metres. And it wasn't going to cost us anything, apparently!? Well the new Tee was used for the first time yesterday and I shudder to think what the real cost has actually been! Now we have a longer hole with a 2.5m wide Bitumen cart path (installed by previously mentioned course Director) up the middle, right where a good drive for an average member should land! Pure genius! And the best bit is that the extend tee still didn't move the rating any higher! I can hear Nero tuning up!

    Think of the extra length everyone will get if they can bounce one off the cart path
