So going by this your initial 56* was a special order from Ping? If so your serial number would give the specs.

American Golf Supplies are the Australian distributor and have been great to deal with for me every time. I would give them a ring. If your wedges were special order they should be able to give you specs per the serial number and you could also discuss what your chances are of getting a 60* 4.0 made to order. They should be a lot more helpful than the retailers. If you have no chance of getting a 4.0 at least you will know where you stand. The S159's drop in a week or so and omg is that Midnight finish hawt.

Thanks for this. They told me they'd sold all their left over wedges to a golf shop in Sydney so I contacted them but they didn't have any of the 60S left. So I will just get the new model. Wedges wear out more quickly anyway right, so I might upgrade my 56S in a years time too.

Good call Gasman. Some of us with requirements far from norm have to suck it up and realise we cant just grab any club out of the barrel and expect it to work or be easily modified. So just buy genuine, fitted to you, and lasts longer.

Me, i need 4% flat so similar.

However Ping have sold out of them and are now selling their new line. I can get a standard 60S from a US retailer. However the shaft in my 56S is 2" longer than standard. And Australian retailers are telling me that it would be hard to know what the correct swing weight would be to match my 56 if I tried to source the matching head and the shaft and have it built. One even suggested that the head would be a different head to match the fact that I have 2' more shaft. So my question is. If I was to order a 'standard' head from the US and have an Australian retailer get the same shaft in for me, will I end up with the same set up as my 56 or do I really need to go through Ping and get them to make the club so it will definitely be the same as my 56 but with the new head?

    Hey Guys,

Looking at purchasing a set of Takomo irons heads only. They are the 370 size so will need to use a shim to fit them into my 355 taper shafts.

    Question relates to ferrules:
I currently have a nice set of Clutch & Co Ferrules and just checking they will look and fit ok with a 355 taper shaft shimmed into a 370 head. OR do I need a different Ferrule size?

TC I expect the ferrules on the .355 shafts will be fine. You may just need to check that the external size of the ferrule you have is ok with Takomo hosel diamater

After advice on bending a wedge.

New set of iron I have ordered have the PW at 42.5.

    I have 3 SM9 wedges
50 (don’t really use because I have little confidence in it)
54 (use for chipping around the green)
58 (only really use out of bunkers)

I’m thinking/ hoping my PW will be going around 105-110m. The 50 deg wedge I struggle to hit 90m (need to stop flipping, my dynamic lost with this wedge is around 50deg)

Should I get the 50 bent to 48?
Buy the set gap wedge (is listed at 4

    What’s thoughts?

Use them and work out what your gap is, then seek to address it.

Benno's approach is known as Pro spacing or gaping. In other words, it's less about the number or letter on the bottom of the club, more about the distance/gap you are looking for between clubs.

Obviously there are practical limitations to adjusting lofts, as the leading and trailing edges start to play a part, but bending these to provide optimal gaps, in particular with the scoring clubs is very worthwhile.

Don't ignore the lie angles whikst you are at it. Often negelcted, but very important

do they have a gap wedge option you can order to match your set? this club will be superior to your 50 degree, more forgiving and less spin, which IMO is a good thing. If its around 46 you can game both and maybe drop the 4 iron up top

For something different, i have the following. 8i 38d 9i 43d Pw 47d Gw 53d Lw 59d. I think 4 degrees gap in wedges is too narrow, with the spread like this, covers the same range with 1 less club
